James Chester

I wonder get shot of him just yet. We badly lack experience and leaders. If we do end up going down a 1 year extension might not be out the question.

If we can get £6m for Chester and get Vida in I’ll do it. I love Chester, the fact he’s ruined his career for us last season puts him in very high regard. However, it hurts to say but I think his time is all but over playing week in week out. I think even 2 games in 4 weeks could be pushing it for him and his knee.

Top pro but it could be time to move on.

Out of contract in the Summer. No way we'd get that much. Plus convinced he'd pass a medical at a new club anyway. Think he'll be here as cover until the end of his contract.

Shame such a reliable and constant player in the Championship years was unable to get a chance to play for us in the Premier League.

Reports saying Chester is keen on an MLS move. Imagine it's financially attractive.

For me what he did for the club last year, causing lasting damage to his own body means we owe him some credit. I'd be disappointed if we played hardball for a bigger fee.

Should do right by Chester if this deal gets him another few years playing despite his now desperate knee issues

Agreed.

Deserves to be relaxed and get a final pay day.

Not that any further proof is needed of just what Villa means to this guy, but if you turn your sound down, set the playback speed to 0.25, and look at the bench from around 2:50... I could watch it again and again.

MLS is a good move for, in the summer. No way we get rid at this stage of the season

All those games played on plastic pitches won't be good on his legs thou.

The MLS really must stop playing so many games on artificial turf.

Zlatan skipped most games that was not on real grass because he didn't want to risk his knee. Think Chester will do well to do the same if he moves there.

I would love to swop him for Nathan Collins and cash to them ... Not likely I appreciate but if you don’t ask you don’t get ...

I don’t think he’s up for the top flight anymore so it’s right for him to move on and get some football. He’s been a great player and captain for us and I’m sure we’ll all wish him all the best,.

Sad to see him leave but it's probably right, just not going to happen for him at this level

Engels back in to the squad, option to go back to a 4 should 2 of them get injured, not sure who the next youngster coming through is

He'll feel he needs to be playing to get into the Wales team for the Euros. I'd imagine we are reluctantly letting him go but we owe him the chance to get regular football.

After putting his body on the line for the club like he did last season and throughout the Championship years I think he's earned the right to leave if he wants regular football.
