Would be very surprised if we win,

Sheff Weds have a good dressing room, strong will to win and have strengthened considerably.

Hillsborough will be rocking and it will come as a shock to some of our players on Sunday.

McCormack may not start because he is lacking match fitness.

Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough last season: 24 games, 14 wins, 8 draws, 2 losses (Boro & Rotherham), 44 goals scored, conceded 17.

I'd be very happy with a point.

I am confused- is that better than our home record in the same period?

I dont think it will tbh. We know Wednesday are a good side, in fact a very good side. I think they think they will roll us over. If we play to our potential we will beat them, simple as that

Got to remember its first games takes teams a while to get in swing of things. I would rather get wednesday away out the away as soon as possible to be honest. Wednesday will be rusty like us. Should be a entertaining game. I like Wednesday though, I hope if we were to go up, they would come with us.

Here is my guess for the line up:

-----------------Gollini--------------------
Hutton---Elphick---Baker---Cissoko
--------Westwood---Gardner-----------
Bacuna---------Ayew----------Grealish
-----------------Gestede-------------------

That's the team I think it will be too, and I think we'd be very lucky to get a draw.

Veretout should be starting in midfield. I think we'll win on Sunday.

Is Adama fit or what?

Robert Di Mattero said we only have one injury but also some players are still behind on fitness due to previous injuries in pre season. Undoubtably Adama will fall into one of these two groups.

Assuming Amavi won't start.....

----------------------Gollini------------------

Hutton------Elphwick--Okore-----Cissokho

--------------Tshibola---Westwood--------

---------------------Veretout---------------

Ayew-------------------------------Grealish

-------------------McCormack----------------

I do worry about us in midfield.

You won't learn much about Villa on Sunday (unless you capitulate).

There is a gap in quality between the PL and Championship (despite what you think Gestede is a good striker at this level). But it is a hard slog, every match will be like a cup final for you.

you easily have the quality to be top 6 minimum. The question marks are over character and attitude.

Your players will have no problem being up for the first match of the season, in a big stadium, with 30,000 fans, in front of the Sky cameras, playing on a carpet.

Therefore, even if you win, it will take a few months for those question marks to be answered.

I suspect a decent August might be vital.

Just though I'd post this, was reading the Adama article from the Birmingham Mail and noticed the likely line up mentioned was this

Gollini
Hutton - Baker - Elphick - Amavi
Gardner - Westwood - Tshibola
Ayew - Gestede - Grealish

Wouldn't have expected Tshibola and Amavi to start. Anyway, expecting a very tough game. Would be very happy with a point tbh.

Seems far too early for the season to start but it should be an interesting first competitive team selection by RDM . The Evening mail predict the starting 11 will be  Gollini, Hutton, Elphick, Baker, Amavi, Westwood, Gardner, Tshibola, Ayew, Grealish, Gestede.

I reckon the team will lineup as follows which is slightly disappointing

_____________Gollini___________

Hutton__Elphick___Baker_Cissokho

______Westwood__Gardner______

__Bacuna_____Ayew_____Grealish__

_____________Gestede____________
