Andrew Stone

To be fair he was their first team performance analyst (two years) before he was promoted to head analyst in April 2012, which he did for about 4½ years.  So plenty of experience.  Interestingly Southampton got promoted in 2012 and then continuously improved their standing in the premier league; going from from 14th in 2013 to 8th in 2014 to 7th in 2015 to 6th in 2016.  Obviously a host of factors at play, many more important than Andrew Stone, but he must have played a role in that success.  As everyone keeps reminding us, we are a championship club that was beyond bad last year.  Bringing one of Southampton's top analysts here has to be good news IMO.  Like everything else, how well he can deliver will depend on the team around him, but it feels like we are getting some very good people in key positions - from CEO, to the management and coaching, and now, to the performance analysis.  Still loads to do on the signings front, but feeling very positive right now.

Birmingham Mail Birmingham Mail, reporting that we still want a Technical Director in addition to Stone. They say the TD is going to be a more 'senior figure'.

Yep as I said Stone is independent to that role. Posted in the takeover thread a few days back the sort of person I think it will be.

Can you repeat or link as I missed?

On my phone right now so a little hard to do that, page 298 I think it was. Just my opinion mind but that role and Stone's are very different things.

I assume you are referring to this one:

"Sorry I didn't mean to imply I know who it is, for clarity I don't.

I agree with the above post, I think this is a roll for one of those infamous 'football people' rather than someone like Cortese who I can't really see is needed with the personnel already on board.

I think it will be of international standing in the game in a playing and probably managing capacity.

I'd assume they will be here to head up scouting networks, coaching and development and be involved building this club network.

I'd be very surprised if they are British, more likely to be from Southern Europe or South America I'd assume.

It will likely be someone like Sven but hopefully not the man himself.

I'm really eager to see who it is."

God that list is depressing.  Southampton blinking Southampton have been spending money over the last 3 years that we we could only dream of.

It has shocked me though as I thought they were put together at a bit of a budget but they could put out an entire team of £8m + players and almost a team of £10m + players.

They have spent 3 years putting together a proper Premier League team.

I know they have made a lot of money from sales to fund a lot of this but it shows the differing fortunes between them and us with how player sales have been reinvested.

All our big money sales have ended in disastrous replacements.
