There's an interview with him in the athletic, apparently offered Moyes a ten year contract as our manager before giving the job to Bruce.

Are they spinning that in to a positive or a negative?

That's a proper "here's what you could have won" speedboat for the pair from B6

That would be an absurd take. Since they left, our coaching team has gotten very good.

There's Deano, whose progressive playing style led us to a very unlikely promotion. Then he was forced to learn and adapt on the fly in what was a tumultuous season of change and upheaval, but he managed it.

JT has been cited as a reason for a couple of players joining - he's an inspiration to the players, a solid man manager and nobody doubts his knowledge of the game.

Neil Cutler is a quality GK coach, along with ROK, both of whom run the training sessions which have seen this squad rise and come together to become a proper PL side.

And now there's also Craig Shakespeare, a top quality manager who is surely miles ahead of all the rest in terms of expertise and knowhow, yet is still perfectly happy to work his magic in the background and let Smith take the limelight.

Smith and Shakespeare are both Villa fans, JT is an ex player, and no doubt Cutler and ROK are on the bandwagon by this point.

But, then again, we could've had Moyes for a decade. Oh how we've missed out.

I don't know if I'm allowed to paste it on here, but much of the article has been put up on the Keiith Wyness thread on the Heroes and Villains forum...

"Moyes had turned down the offer of a 10-year contract as he insisted he wasn’t prepared to drop down into the second tier of English football. He would end up relegated from the Premier League that season with Sunderland.".

Just watched it, was quite scathing of Di Matteo, suggested he didn't put in the hours or work hard enough with the squad, also seems there was more going on with McCormack than we realised, said he bought in legal experts and QCs in to try and terminate his contract and called his behavior reprehensible. Also claims to be involved with investors looking at other premier league clubs.

Aaron Wilbraham talked on undr the cosh about RDM and he sounds very aloof. No man management. Left for West Brom and didnt even say goodbye to the players or drop a text.

Terrible appointment and no surprise he hasn't worked since.

Haven't watched it myself, but just seen this new interview with Wyness posted on twitter:

Wasn't it said when we appointed him that RDM at West Brom would be taking regular fag breaks when training was on and wouldn't even stay that late into the afternoon so it was all very lax in terms of preparation and apparently one of the reasons WBA let him go as don't think they were even in bottom 3 of prem when he was sacked.

A bit of research would've revealed that and also the stuff on McCormack but guess we didn't do it and just looked at the names we were getting.

Had completely forgot about Abel Hernandez, didn't he go off to play in Russia? Chuckling at Rinola way of doing things with wage negotiations.

We were wretched that day at Preston, proper end of days feel to the short lived Di Matteo era.

Interesting interview, I see he did one with the Villa view lads aswell so will watch that later although suspect it will be the same answers unless they did it while he was actually CEO as looks like Matt Lynch was still involved and he left a few years back.
