useless
It doesn't really matter who's the best between Messi and Maradona, they're both not just world class within their eras but, all time greats.

PaulC
Under 40 really to have not seen Maradona in his pomp. Under 55 for Pele and about 100 for Puskas Edited June 29, 2016 by PaulC
kurtsimonw
I can't say for 80s defending. But defending now compared to a decade or so ago is really, really awful. There seems far less that you'd label with "World class" or whatever. Kompany seems to be considered to be excellent, maybe he is near the top currently, but he's far from an excellent defender IMO. It certainly makes the job of strikers easier and I think that's partly why we see so many high scorers these days.
