I'm genuinely excited. RDM and Steve Clarke as a management team, new owner with money (rumour has it).. Could be a good season..

Takeover - check

New manager - check

Fit and Proper - pending

Now it's only shipping out, keeping hold of and buying in to go...

Welcome RDM.  Please let this be the start of something big.

The type of set up we should have had in the Premier League.

We kinda did with Sherwood and Wilkins.

Wish I was as optimistic about this as everyone else on here.

Clarke as assistant is inspired.

They know each other, they've both had (relative) success as managers and they both know what it takes to succeed on the pitch.

This is a very encouraging appointment.

I think this appointment largely means fit and proper is done it's just ironing out formalities. We likely wouldn't be appointing RDM if everything was set to fail.

WTF has Sherwood done in his management career to be compared to RDM?

Wonder if delay with OS is that they are trying to announce everything together, takeover ratified etc. Either that or it's just our usual slow Villa trying to address a cock up or put press together. lol

Either just ironing out formalities, or just plain stupid PR.

Very good appointment in my view.

You're never going to please everyone but I think Di Matteo and Clarke is as good as we could have hoped for given our current situation.

I certainly expect a more attacking team with more goals scored, if nothing else. Wishing the new management team all the best, and hope they get good backing by the new board.

New management/coaching setup is something a large mid-table Premier League team (aka Southampton, Stoke) would be lucky to get, let alone a Championship team in large need of some repairs.

Very please with RDM and Clarke!

It's interesting that the BBC have said that Clarke will take on the hands-on approach for the squad don't you think? I wonder what role Di Matteo will play in this?
