As a none arsenal fan, Wenger is so frustrating, so I can't imagine what it must be like to an Arsenal fan. Why won't he just spend £70m ish on a top class striker and defender (money which they have) to really make a statement and push for the league title.

...because then he would be under pressure to actually achieve something and we can't have that.

this another in the famous Wenger defensive signings?

He needs to save all the pennies he can to lavish on another small ball playing flair central midfielder, with Arteta retiring he is down to his last 23.

I see Steve Walsh has left Leicester to become Everton's head of recruitment.  For all their supposed new money, have they actually signed anyone yet?

Maarten Stekelenberg.

Whose name sounds as if you're trying to pronounce it with a mouthful of bread.

Wijnaldum £25m

Gotze £18m

gotze, just turned 24, got 56 caps for Germany, won 5 league titles, 3 cups and the world cup...in before someone calls him shit...

English football in a nutshell.

An argument would be Gotze wasn't started at Bayern and wanted out, but Wijnaldum wanted out at a club that was just relegated. Plus Wijnaldum has been largely mediocre to poor for most of his time at Newcastle.

The sort of prices being quoted and paid by PL clubs this season is quite shocking.

The extra TV money has seen an increase of around 100% in transfer fees. The increased TV income is being used to pay inflated transfer fees along with additional money for players wages and their agents fees. Clubs had an opportunity to use some of this extra money to make watching the game more affordable for fans by reducing admission prices. But they did not want to do that did they?

It seems stupid really, lower prices, fill stadium, improve atmosphere at the ground and on TV, improves brand, sell brand for more money.

I suppose if your already filling 80% of your ground at the current price filling 100% and making less money makes no sense. Especially if your going to get the kind of money from the rights anyway.

Surely for any Premier League club the difference between selling a ticket for £15 instead of £30-40 is very little when you factor in the TV money. They really could improve everything about football in this country just by making it more affordable. When you factor in you need to pay for travel, food, drink, ticket, merch etc... going to football is an expensive day out, especially if you're taking kids etc....

I would have loved to have seen a criteria of the new bumper TV deal being that a certain percentage of your TV money HAD to go towards reducing ticket prices.

You get an extra 100 million a year but 10 million of that HAS to go towards reducing ticket prices.. You're more than making up for the money lost by the TV money you're getting.

Never gonna happen, but it would be nice.
