Can't believe people are moaning. Design choice on the outside and how it looks won't be confirmed yet..it's the plan and overall structure that's being decided.

It looks excellent and will be at the level of other stands across the country and will bring in much more revenue.

People have to find a negative don't they.

I know right. 3 years ago we were competing with Derby and Blues, both of which barely exist as clubs now. We're so fortunate to have the owners we have.

I don't think it's moaning or negative to not want a 70s looking brown box bolted onto the end of the new stand.

As I said I understand it's just provisional renders and hope to see something different but I'm getting big Chelmsley Wood Leisure Centre vibes from this.

And I don't think plonking this right behind the stand is right, it should be well away from the stand so we can actually see it.

I think you're way off on all of those points

If you think those 2 buildings look alike then you can't be helped

I am sure it will look better in the flesh but yes  it looks awfully leisure centre from the initial drawings. I had a vision in my head of an ultramodern stand .something like Selfridges .  red brick on anything new never looks good.

Has to keey in style with the rest of the ground. So can't have just one random ultra modern stand

Exactly, they design something akin to the alliance or spurs new stadium and they don't get planning permission

Its an extension not a new build, they can't just do whatever they want

Also we have an old aesthetic to Villa Park which other clubs don't have with their boring modern looking stadiums.

And I really hope we keep that, with a modern touch. The early sketches seem to indicate we will, and that’s reassuring.

I said vibes, not identikit.

On both buildings I'm seeing big expanses of plain red brick wall.

I'm delighted and grateful we're getting a massive upgrade but I'm not going all happy clappy and accepting any old shit.

I'll say it again I know it's just preliminary and will likely change but I don't want to see a big expanse of plain red brick walls.

Those indicative pictures look horrendous. Looks like a 1970's council leisure centre has been built on the back of it.

I'm concerned.

Looks like they've dropped the Hotel idea then.

The hotel idea comes around every few years. Really don't see a market for it.

Sketches look good imo.

Is the absence of Witton Lane on the drawings an indication that another new stand might be the end game to get us up to 60k?

I believe so. Holte and Trinity would be very hard to expand further so DE would be the only  other option which is currently constrained by the road and nearby properties.

Here are a few more snippets of information, from the brochure and from @OutByEaster? .

Firstly, the club say

We aim to improve:

  • Stadium capacity–current seated capacity increase to 50,000+ seats, adding approximately 7,400 additional seats

  • General facilities–more space for socialising and enhanced hospitality packages.

  • Fan experience–atmosphere  is viewed as the most important aspect of a match day. Improvements will include enhanced views from the stand, dedicated entrances for home and away fans, and the retention of the four distinct stands (a nod to our heritage)

  • Seating&Accessibility–there will be considerable changes to make both stands more accessible with an uplift of disabled seating

  • Connectivity–61% of fans said Wi-Fi connectivity and mobile signal was very poor, significant enhancements to Wi-Fi will be made and giant screens installed

  • Visual impact–the architecture will ensure that impact on surrounding areas is minimised while simultaneously maintaining the identity and heritage of Villa Park

And

Our phase one plans include:

  • Better segregation of pedestrians and vehicles providing a safer an dimproved access into the northern part of Villa Park for those arriving by public transport

  • Prioritising pedestrians around the newly transformed Villa Way

  • Increasing  the amount of parking with 300 spaces in the new North Stand car park

  • 26 dedicated blue badge bays, with level access to the stadium

  • Working with private land owners to identify off-site parking locations to tackle pressure of anti-social parking in local streets

  • More fans currently use Aston Station(65%) compared to Witton Station(35%), so we will be looking at how to better manage usage, queuing, and access to train services

  • Encouraging greater use of sustainable travel–walking, cycling, and public transport

  • Continuing to work collaboratively with key partners including local bus and rail operators and Transport for West Midlands

The club would like us to have our say on all this, so here's how:

Here are a few more images from the brochure, which may be of interest

And finally some stuff from yesterdays SCG which may answer one or two queries raised

Timeline (provisional, if all goes according to plan):

Planning permission will go in in August

The Brookvale academy site will be complete by July of 2023 - the work there has started already

The Academy building will be demolished in July/Aug 2023, and the current North Stand will be demolished in October 2023, followed by the ticket office.

Phase 1 complete by the start of the 2025/26 season.

The new North stand will hold 13,200 with just over 2,000 of those being hospitality. Both the Trinity and new North Stand will be getting open balcony style hospitality areas in the middle of them.

That would not result in 50,000 then, more like 48K.

Those don't look like massive plain red brick walls to me. Obviously hard to tell from the limited images but to me it looks like a decent amount of both the stand and Villa Live are glass/transparent, and even where there are large brick sections these are broken up by detailing or more windows.
