Tony Xia (no longer involved with AVFC)

Xia has been badly advised, but his problem is finding an adviser whose advice will enable him to employ a CEO and directors with impeccable football experience who will make a positive impact on the club.

Unfortunately it appears he may have to have a clearout and start again if we are to be really successful.

A shame that he has already spent so much money with so little result.

Ultimately it is a big season for this football club because if we do not achieve our objectives for this season, Tony would need to re-strategise on how he wants to proceed with this club in the future, especially with our current finances.

Rongtian He is currently Tony's eyes and ears at this club, so everything that is happening at this club is being fed back to him.

I am concerned that if we revamp our board/Management who on earth has the credibility to fill us fans with hope. Many of us fans do not know that side of football so whoever we appoint we would just have to hope again.. that this will work..

At the moment, potential Chinese investment has stalled due to a decree, passed in August, that banned investors from buying overseas sports clubs. Until then it had been believed that Far East investment – which has seen West Brom, Southampton, Aston Villa and Wolves all taken over by Chinese investors – would continue in the Premier League.

But that could all change this week. President Xi will host the 19th Communist Party Congress in Beijing from Wednesday, and he is expected to establish even greater authority as he begins the start of his second five-year team in office.

It is believed that this Congress will determine whether Chinese individuals and consortia are once again permitted to invest abroad - and in football clubs. Latest reports suggest that restrictions will be relaxed.

Potentially good news for us?

yes. Also some news recently that Newcastle United is up for sale and potential buyers include a couple of Chinese consortia. If the news is true (i.e. not made up by Newcastle owners to bargain with potential buyers), then It is likely that the foreign investment ban will be mitigated, if not completely lifted.

It will have little effect on Villa though, as the further investment will not benefit us too much this season until we get promoted.

Not sure, means more clubs will be getting investments and making them stronger. Our current decision making certainly doesn't seem to give us an edge, so with more clubs getting more money I don't see much of an advantage for us.

Good geezer - but he seems to lack financial clout and connections of even someone who owns wolves.

Best case scenario under XIa would seem to be a yo-yo club. Theres no much money and there doesn't seem much of a strategy either. All IMO of course.

So with a quarter of the season gone, if you run that forwards we would be 20 points off second place?

If that's how it works then the table wouldn't change at all and they'd be no reason playing the rest of the games. Congratulations Wolves!

A question for debate,

lets turn the clock back to Tony‘s takeover.

If you as a VT member would have been told

2 seasons later still not promoted Millions spent on player transfers & wages going into a 3rd season with ffp influencing the sales of our best players thus limiting us with player aquisitions and in search of a new manager.

Would you say that the board had made the right or wrong decisions?

Looking back on it (why would you?), you could say we're not where we want to be, and that we would have gone up last season and spent 10 gillion pounds and won the league this year.

But at the time I agreed with everything the board have done, be it manager choices or buying players.

This question is utterly pointless

Sorry if the point wasn't sufficiently obvious.

The point is that talking about 5 points off an automatic promotion place is an unrealistically optimistic way of looking at where we are with a quarter of the season gone.  We have to achieve and maintain a significantly better points-to-games ratio to be promoted.  Win two games while our rivals lose two, and then maintain that position relative to them over the course of the season as a whole.  That suggests something more like a step change than a minor impediment.

Oh come on, you think we didn't have the financial clout to get a structure similar to Wolves in place?

Laughable.

It is just that he went into this with the wrong people and blew the first chance, and have now gotten stuck with them.

We spent more money than any other team in the championship.

His Businesses are worth Billions.

The kind of investment he made was supposed to get us up at the first time of asking, hence we now have to be limited with our spending for the obvious reasons which have been reported a trillion times.

You think Wolves would be able to spend 10's of millions every window for 2 season running and pay the wage levels we have had at this club?

Absolutely not. They made great decisions at the first time of asking, we did not. It's that simple.

I agree with this. We've spent the maximum possible allowed due to FFP constraints. It's just that a lot of it was pissed up the wall.

Guo Guangchang’s Fosun International Group has invested heavily in the Molineux club since the takeover in July. But the Birmingham Post Rich Listreveals the entrepreneur has the deepest pockets in the region, with a fortune of no less than £4.8 billion.

West Brom owner Guochuan Lai makes it to third on the list, with a fortune of £2.8 billion, while Aston Villa chairman Tony Xia has a fortune just shy of £1 billion.

What worries more just slightly is Xia's wealth cannot be verified. You read contrasting amounts dependent on which article you read. He's rich and seems to be the real deal but time will tell if he is just a chancer playing with owning s football club or not.
