Long term stability, plain and simple. I don't want to be the next Leeds/Pompey/Blackpool.

The waters are very muddied at the moment. The sooner we get a decent interview the better. There's a lot a miss.

Edit: in terms of motive, I have no problem if they want to use us as a vehicle for exposure. My fear is what happens next given the dodgy names apparently involved.

There's actually nothing "amis". There are unknowns that can only really be known by giving it time.

Whilst I myself was deeply concerned before I decided to get over myself, I'm now at the stage where I can't see what the fuss is about. I don't really know what people want.

I really could not care less if Dr Tony xia turned out to be from uranus and he was leading an alien invasion of birmingham..

It would be 100 times better than those charlatans lerner and krulak who couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery between them.

The Daily Mail (rubbish i know) have a decent interview with Dr Tone...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3602825/Saviour-dreamer-Sportsmail-talks-Aston-Villa-s-owner-waiting-Dr-Tony-Xia.html

  • Businessman Tony Xia is set to buy Aston Villa for a 'bargain' £74.5m
  • Sportsmail's Nick Harris spoke to the billionaire in his Beijing home
  • He says it's a big deal for fans but small compared to his £3.5bn US swoop
  • Xia revealed how he became acquainted with China’s president, Xi Jinping
  • billionaire admits Villa are not the sole object of his footballing affections
  • His plan is to make the Aston area home to a football theme park
  • Villa’s academy will find and nurture the best young talent in China
Things looking up in my opinion!

That should make some people feel quite stupid

The smile on my face is slowly getting bigger!!! Debts paid off, 50 million sitting there to be spent and an owner with a plan. If we can make him love AVFC we could be set for years to come.

Reading that made me smile so much. This guy is legit it seems and he has cash and doesn't mind spending it. Samuelson is still a slight concern but maybe Chinese laws on money leaving the country is what he's there for, maybe he's just the right shade of dodgy that he's fine acting as a go between to get large sums of money out of the country. Underground money changing is a very common way to circumvent the strict foreign exchange laws, maybe that is Samuelson's whole reason to exist in this deal.

Why? Some people have their doubts and although we all want this guy to be our saviour I think they are right to cautious until we know 100% either way.

I'll be very interested to see who is our new manager, Tony Xia has said he's already knows who it is but he's holding off naming him. If he's telling the truth then it's unlikely to be RDM if he's now talking to Lazio.

The DM sounds promising and if it's true then I'd say rather than feeling stupid they will be very happy.

After the last 5 or so years with an owner who made mistake after mistake it's good to be talking about a new owner who is saying the right things.

Have you looked at the thread prior to your post? lol

6.8 Billion dollars according to the googles. That may even just be personal wealth, since the article also said they were in the process of a 3.5 Billion acquisition.

I'm confused as to the pound sign though. So not even sure what it is.

The pound sign was my point. Which is it? Pounds or Yuan because 1 Yuan equals 11p......

The maths in that article don't add up. He paid £52m up front and agreed to pay off the overdraft of £24.5m. That equals £76.5m so why only ring-fence £74m?

A theme park in Aston, really? Where exactly? He must be planning to buy Aston Park from the council. With the surrounding area in such a state he will do well to promote that as a tourist attraction.

I really hope that this fella is trustworthy and is successful in his ownership of Villa but I do worry that he's just another dreamer like Lerner who will quickly lose interest in the club.

Looking at his experience and specialism if you like, I think it's a win for Xia from all angles.

He gets to own a football club he supposedly follows, gets in with the Pres' because he's supporting his footballing vision, international recognition of his main brand and has a platform to potentially win some big design and development deals in Brum (urban regeneration and, say, a theme park).

I'm still cautiously optimistic, but optimistic none the less. I think most people have seen a OS error with Samuelson's name and assumed the worse. Until someone tells me categorically otherwise, I'll continue to be exited.
