Ryan Giggs 25/1 Maybe Itching for management by the sounds of it. If he does well, Man Utd will always be linked and every time the manager changes he will be linked. If he does good enough he will get that job, it is too strong a pull. Only 4 games in charge at Man Utd (W2 D1 L1) so very inexperienced at managing first team football however seems to want to go that route. Clear that serious questions are being asked whether he is happy to work with Mourinho. Could Villa be the right club to make that step into management? Maybe a risk, but would be a big name in China... Simon Grayson 25/1 Maybe Has been at Preston for 3 years. Seems to have got them settled in the Championship. Decent record, 4 promotions from League 1 - never been Premier League though. Might, with right backing do the the job. Chris Coleman 33/1 No Just signed new contract with Wales. Definite no. Tony Pulis 33/1 Unlikely Not sure why he is getting link. Isn’t doing particularly great with West Brom. Unless they want to give him the boot can’t see why he wouldn't want to stay there? Eric Black 40/1 No Clear he sees future elsewhere. Clear he does not have the whereitall to manage. Gareth Southgate 40/1 Unlikely Currently U21's coach. Seems to be relatively cushy job and happy with it. Not sure up to the task of taking on Villa? Garry Monk 40/1 Maybe Started well with Swansea but lost the plot this season. Would likely need to go to Championship for next job. Villa would be a good job for him but think there are better candidates out there. Gary Rowett 40/1 Maybe Somehow doing well at the otherside. Definitely got potential. Would be controversial from SHA side but from what I read Villa fans largely would be accepting. The media no doubt would put the spin on it and I do not think Dr Xia would want the bad press. Gary Neville 50/1 Unlikely Did not do well at Valencia. Seemed a tough job too. Whilst appeared to do very well in punditry, struggled to implement it. Maybe best if he just sticks to the TV? Glenn Hoddle 50/1 No Really? Do the bookies just throw his name in there for the sake of it? Kevin MacDonald 50/1 Unlikely Only really been caretaker manager barring a short spell as Swindon manager. Didn't get on too well despite getting into the Playoffs (lost in Semi's). Quit in pre season. Obvious Villa connection but likely to get us promoted? Do not think so. Mark Warburton 50/1 No Just got Rangers back into the Scottish Premier League. Will want to complete that challenge before he moves on. He is not done there and won't be for a few years. Would have been interesting though. Nigel Adkins 50/1 No Been sacked by Sheffield United for failing to get promoted to Championship, why on earth would Villa want him? Paul Clement 50/1 No Was sacked as Derby Manager earlier in the year. Thought Weimann and Bent were good signings... He also spent around £25million. Yes they did get to the playoffs BUT they did better after they sacked him (W8 D3 L5). Would not be a good choice. Roy Keane 50/1 Unlikely Obviously been with Villa briefly. A bit of a loose cannon and could either be brilliant (Sunderland) or horrific (Ipswich). I do not think he would be a safe bet and as such unlikely to be consdiered, despite questions of him remaining as Assistant at Ireland. Steve Clarke 50/1 Unlikely Sacked as Reading manager in December. Not really done anything of note except to get West Brom to 8th 1 season. Not overtly favorable and seems to be a lot better options on the market. Steve McClaren 50/1 No Personal preference this one. Just No. Give me Pearson, his son and all the racists in the world managing Villa rather than this one. How he got the Newcastle job I don't know but clearly incapable of managing since he took the England job. Not what we need nor want. Stilyan Petrov 50/1 Unlikely Whilst got the Villa connection, no real experience and would be too much of a gamble. Maybe though as a coach or assistant manager under say Warnock. Learn the trade a bit with a view to take over in a year or 2? Aitor Karanka 66/1 No Really depends on whether he sticks at Middlesborough. Problem is the 'hair dresser' manager is very in vogue at the moment. Its painful that people who could see through this (Bernstein, King, Hollis) have either departed or will do shortly - Weve got another 3 seasons or so of head scratching and 'player not pulling his weight' shockers before they wise up.... Sadly though a lot of footballers aren't model pro's - they have £30k a week in there pocket and time on there hands - they will challenge the manager and test him whenever they can.
