Genie
“we are aware of” like it’s landed in his lap as a problem, not as a direct result of the decisions this government has made. HGV drivers doing longer hours, what could go wrong?

HGV drivers doing longer hours, what could go wrong? It is the first time I have seen a "benefit" of Brexit. If we had still been in the EU we would have to abide by thier pesky health and safety laws. Now to deal with a consequence of Brexit we can start making HGV drivers work longer hours to solve a problem caused by Brexit. Take that EU, you can't stop us from napping at the wheel if we want to. Why sleepwalk into Brexit when you can sleepdrive a 4 tonne truck into it.
HanoiVillan
Should make another regulatory change, and allow the drivers to microdose with speed while working.

bickster Posted July 7, 2021 Moderator Share Posted July 7, 2021 They'll point to the fact they already did this during the early part of the pandemic with no adverse effects (No idea if there was an increase in accidents)

Ah they'll fill that gap with bringing drivers out of retirement for ludicrous wages (already happening)
chrisp65
I like this experiment. Let’s have smart motorways, and by smart, I mean no hard shoulder. Then we’ll get the lorry drivers to work longer hours…

No, I don’t think they are winding any back, I think the government have agreed they need the number of refuge spots the designers originally recommended, so future roads will not be ‘value engineered’.
