Great deal, so much freedom I can't even handle it

The Galileo encrypted military signal thing is actually a big deal.

We'd (as part of the EU) spent a ton of money and were a key part of doing that (including hi tech jobs), but that money is now lost, and the jobs have gone back to the continent. So we bought a totally inappropriate, struggling US satellite communications company, which uses and works on a different technology, for another ton of money, with the unachievable aim of using their tech to replace what we lost through Galileo.

It'll be quietly dropped in a year or so, I guess - but it's utter madness for the sake of "Freedom" - yeah, freedom not to have jobs and technology and be part of a co-operative project.

What's the problem then?

Dissociation purely for the sake of it to satisfy the 'sovereignty and freedom' crowd.

As Blandy wrote above, some of this dissociation is hugely damaging.

One problem is that UK Uni's which were attractive to EU students are no longer as attractive. Because they now have to pay much more to study at them. So they are choosing to go to other nations Uni's. This means our Uni's lose funding, the UK loses "soft influence" (in the form of all those bright young kids coming here, getting into UK culture and becoming kind of anglo-friendly and developing links and ties and so on.

Instead the students are now going to Germany, Australia, the US instead.

**** students and universities. Full of soft liberal snowflakes anyway, not befitting of the british bulldog spirit

You didn't close that bracket. I don't want all your future posts being included within that open bracket.

Unrestricted use of open brackets, Key point of Brexit

The Nightingale one in London that we don't have enough people to staff... oh

It's been dismantled apparently, access was only granted until October.

Good thing we're over the worst of the pandemic in London eh.
