This 'get it done' tactic is abhorrent and simplifies what is an extraordinarily complex issue. Pass this and "get it done" but we'd rather you not look too closely at it, and we aren't going to do any financial impact assessments. Trust us, it's fine. He basically said it was far too much to read, he'd scanned through the first quarter, there were things he didn't like, there were blanks where the government were basically saying just trust us, but he was minded to vote for it to get it over and done with. Found time in his busy schedule as an MP to be on Newsnight though. Time to get himself on national TV to say he hasn't read, there are blanks in it, there's no financial analysis, he was worried the government had not known if NI needed export licenses to GB or not, but he'd probably vote for it. What an absolute ringing endorsement of the quality of this whole debate. Whilst I'm on it, 50% of the public polled say they also approve of it. Approve of what? I got issued 8:00pm last night. Perhaps it means that Snell and Nandy will look to amend the clause to remove the reference to the Political Declaration in the Parliamentary oversight.
