Well quite. And just as well because if we we were to put those regulatory protections into law we wouldn't be able to hear JC shouting his beloved 'Bargain Basement Economy' at the dispatch box another 274 times.

It's been there since March. It's not Corbyn's fault that the Government doesn't want to pass any laws.

From @blandy just above above;

The same applies, of course, to the UK. WTO determines the way that tariffs are applied. Regulatory and consumer law, providing it is not descriminatary, is purely a matter for the UK. So unless, in the unlikely event, that the government decides to scrap all tariffs and all regulation there is absolutely no reason for the UK to become a 'dumping ground'. Of course there may be another reason why you might not want products coming from the Far East that met the same regulatory standards as those coming from the EU?

You were literally talking about a tariff free scenario in the point I responded to

I'm beginning to wonder whether that's his desired end goal after all - keeping us in.

He's already alienated businesses, is proceeding the same way with the various nations of the UK, has prompted Democrats and Republicans to say that Congress will block a UK-US trade deal if he messes with the Good Friday Agreement, has needlessly strengthened opposition to him within his own party through his ministerial selections, and has laid down a daft ultimatum to EU leaders, which he knows they won't accept.

Add those things to the insistence on October as the end date, knowing that there's no majority for a no-deal, and I'm starting to wonder if he's trying to blow the whole thing up before saying "We gave it our best shot, but it can't be done".

Missed the bit where the EU voted for the UK to leave the EU.

Unbelievable doublespeak, it is actually her and her party of shit stains on humanity that are propping up the government whose actions are directly responsible for the potential break up of the Union.

A no-deal Brexit will leave Britain worse off, triggering falls in economic output, a rise in inflation and a drop in the pound that could leave sterling at record lows against other currencies, the Bank of England has warned.

It's clear we're in the calm before the inevitable storm. Parliament returns on 5th September and then they all go away for Conference on 14th September until early October.

There's barely any sitting days left now. Lord Vader made flesh IDS gave the game away when he said "any legislation brought forward will be hijacked, so we won't bring any forward"...Can this folly realistically be stopped now?

In terms of "people other than the Government", some people are convinced that it can. Others are convinced that it can't.

That would be nice, but I fear the people he's picked ot be his team, being almost universally a bunch of throbbers, means not (in as much as there's any kind of plan at all).

The EU are on their holidays too, so not much negotiating of some dream new Unicorn agreement is going to be done (if any). So it'll either be another kick down the road, or a massive showdown.

Happy Days.

Look on the bright side - the devalued currency means that the money they are wasting is worth a bit less than it was before.

Silver linings etc.
