The now-enacted will of (some of) the people

It's laughable that it's considered remotely acceptable to keep having parliament vote, again and again, on exactly the same thing, until the government gets the answer it wants.

And now the haunted pencil is saying he'll vote for the deal at the third attempt. Seems the ERG will support the deal if May goes. Baker was saying no just a few minutes ago but looks like that has no bearing now.

See earlier post re Erskine May.  It's not.  They will have to dress it up somehow.

But it's not the EU doing it so it's ok.

Well it is also problematic in that the Tory party were only able to attempt a change leader of leader after the first time the vote failed.

The opportunity wasn’t taken then so they can’t try again and she is potentially free to keep dragging up her failed plan.

The caviat to that is that an MP asked if it was actually possible to keep returning an unchanged and failed bill over and over and the Speaker has said he’d have to decide on that.

The bar closes in an hour, and the owner is preparing to close up shop. The British Parliament says it wants to keep drinking all night long, and told the PM to make it happen... but refused to sign the extension forms she brought back.

Some might say that, voting again on something, is democracy. Even though we're told it's not.

The first Meaningful Vote was the Will of Parliament, if we follow consistent logic.

The Beeb are talking about the likelihood of a fourth vote. Christ.

Are the ERG enough to swing it on their own?

No. The accepted logic is:

1) get the DUP onside somehow

2) the ERM feel a bit silly acting more outraged over Northern Ireland than the DUP so fall into line

3) Labour MPs who see no point torching their party relationship for something that is bound to fail, but will reluctantly vote for something that will squeak over the line

They all need to happen.

Not with the Tory rebels I don't think.

She lost yesterday by 149. There are between 50 and 60 ERGers, and 11 DUPers, so if they all moved en bloc it would be pretty damn close.

However, you might be right to be fair - there could be more Tory moderates who switch back to voting No, and there are some of the ERGers who are hard to imagine voting for the deal . . . 'Antique Slenderman' (that as brilliant, thanks @NurembergVillan) gets all the press, but he's not the head-bangiest by a long stretch. Can anyone really see Andrew Bridgen voting for it under any circumstances?
