We need to keep it on the table cause the EU are shitting themselves we may actually go that way. If we take it off the table the EU will have the upper hand to carry on blackmailing us into this shit deal.

LOL

Gove's speech today underlines why he shouldn't be considered for any really senior office.

Given the paucity of talent in the pool nowadays, he is apparently 2nd/3rd favourite to be the next Prime Minister.

What a shameful state we are in.

Spelman, according to the BBC News, has pulled her backing for her own amendment - largely, it seems, because the government was going to whip against it.

By the account of the bod just on, it can still be moved by someone else. I wonder whether someone on the Labour side will do that.

How are they blackmailing us? Genuine question as I can't add up your logic there. Surely if they're "shitting themselves" about the prospect of a no deal and we're keeping it on the table it's us blackmailing them...

This is the kind of thing to bear in mind when you chuck all your eggs in the 'parliament is rational' basket. Sometimes it is rational with a different viewpoint. And sometimes it's not rational at all.

Interesting (and highly explosive) suggestion that Bercow might rule that the same deal can't be brought back for a 3rd vote

The following extract from Erskin May is doing the rounds to suggest that what May is doing shouldn't be allowed.

Quote

A motion or an amendment which is the same, in substance, as a question which has been decided during a session may not be brought forward again during that same session

Now that would be hilarious

She has just said she intended to withdraw it but Bercow corrected her by saying that it can't be withdrawn. She may choose not to move it but it can still be moved by anyone else who was a signatory to it so watch this space on that.

but Brexit wont go away , it may be postponed 5 - 10 years  whilst parliament splits more along remain and leave parties.

I'm not sure that's the case, for example, the money that's in part behind Brexit tried TTiP first and it got rejected in the accidental democracy of Brussels bureaucracy. If they fail with Brexit, they'll look for a different way to dismantle European and UK regulation and trading strength to open them up for US corporate interest.

I think Brexit will go away and the various interests behind it will just look for different ways to get what they want.

holy shit that was close, AYE

will that make chances of No No Deal vote less likely?

despite what it says, no deal is still what happens on March 29th unless something like a deal supersedes it
