NorthernGordon Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Just read on Facebook that legendary defender Ken McNaught of the 1982 European Cup winning side, is waiting to undergo a major heart transplant. His operation was cancelled today and he's having to wait a bit longer for it. Speedy recovery Ken, could do with someone like you in the side today. 4
markavfc40 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Best of luck to him. What we'd give now for half a dozen players with Kens attitude. 2
1974Centenary Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Ill never forget the diving header against Barcelona in '82. Speedy recovery mate. 2

I have spoken to him several times over the last few months and is he having heart surgery to correct an issue. He has been awaiting the operation for a quite a while. Like everyone else I hope everything goes to plan and wish him a speedy recovery. 3
briny_ear Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Just to clarify Ken isn't having a "transplant". Glad to hear that! Hope the op goes well when it finally comes around. A great Villa servant from much happier times. 1
sheepyvillian Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Wish we had someone in this current side who had your endeavour and commitment , a true lion . 2
John Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I hope Ken is very soon recovered and feeling 110% to quote his old boss. What a great central defender he was and he deserved a lot more Scotland caps to add to the honours that he earned with us.
Shaw_nuff Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 That shadow-boxing after Sid was kicked into the net - classic.
SeanO Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Get well soon big man, loved watching you play...well maybe not the 1st season I just wish we had a few like him today and not the over payed ego's we do have.
NorthernGordon Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 Apologies to the mods for not including proper proof and for getting it slightly wrong. Anyway, hope it all goes well for him and he recovers quickly. One of my heroes.
Popular Post MikeMcKenna Posted April 3, 2016 VT Supporter Popular Post Posted April 3, 2016 Met Ken at the game yesterday and am very pleased to report that he said his operation was a 100% successful :-) 11

If he was some bang average modern player he would have had it done within days of the issue arising at some hideously expensive private clinic in Geneva or somewhere. I hate to hear how some truly great players of the past have to run pubs or whatever to make ends meet when you know the current crop will live multi millionaire lifestyles, when not fit to even fetch the laces of someone like Ken's boots from the cupboard for someone else to lace. Get well soon Ken.
benireduk Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 He was at the game on Saturday. Good to see him on the mend
danceoftheshamen Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) He & Allan Evans were by far the best central defence i have watched at VP... oh for a team like that now! Loved Ken, rugged, strong and great in the air. All the best Villa teams have had a good Scottish connection and we seem to lack that today, Hutton is not in the same league!
