I know it’s Burton. I know it’s the Carabao Cup. But that must feel like one helluva weight off his shoulders. It will not do the lad any harm grabbing that goal. Very pleased for him. Even @nick76 will be fist pumping the air tonight as I know how highly he rates Kienan Davis! 2

We have to remember, the kid has missed so much development due to injury....it would not surprise me, if he come good.....But I like the look of Ollie too.

Then he needs to go to a championship team and play week in week out to develop. I don’t think we could afford that, he’s our second choice striker now. Even if Wes came back I still think that Davis is the better choice. I assume we won’t get another striker, so I think keeping him is essential. My Villa friends congratulated me about his goal more than the win lol. I really rate him, and very happy to see him scoring. The way he beat the offside was fantastic. It’s not the finishing as I myself could’ve finished that in a good day (usually these easy depends on confidence rather than quality). It’s how he broke the offside were it shows his qualities rather the goals itself.

I was just making the point that it was unfair that the person I quoted was implying he only managed to score because he was up against a terrible keeper. Ollie hit the bar from 8 yds out when it was easier to score. Give KD the credit when he deserves it at least.

Yes I agree, but the things with Davis is that I fail to remember a game that he went missing (apart from possibly Wolves where we played 2 upfront or Liverpool game). Even his cameos you can see his presence. Samatta only shot one post lockdown when he played much more than Davis. I wish all of our strikers and players the best. I just think that some of them (as Davis) just need time and confidence to fulfill their potential.

Keinans approach play for the goal was good and his execution was equally as good.....He looked competent to me. KenjiOgiwara
Always rated him. One of my favourite players. I was literally bouncing on my couch when I saw him arching his run and the pass was being weighted (Luiz was it?). You kinda saw straight away it wasn't offside and I was like "GO GO DAI DAI - **** SCOOOORE THIS YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS". Lovely finish as well, even if it's Burton and so on. I think my only criticism of him yesterday was his nonsense after his stepover. He did everything right and then thought it was smart trying to beat another man 7 yards from the goal. Like my old coach used to tell me "doesn't matter if you dribble off 5 guys, if you fail at the 6th. Dribbling off one and ending it with a successful pass is always better".

I have no issue praising somebody when it’s due.
Phil Silvers
wish we could convert him in to that strong assed DM I think we still need.

What’s clear is that as a fan base we all want him to succeed. There is no agenda (ahem @nick76) or bias for him to fail. He’s a real handful, just needs to add a few goals. In all seriousness I want every player to succeed at Villa, why would I not. I love Villa and seeing the kids come through gives me more pride than spending big money on players. Going to Villa park, Walsall or whatever grounds the youngsters used to play at over the decades was awesome and seeing those players succeed then into the first team was great. I sadly, in my forties have less time for the other teams so focus on the Villa first team only now. I have just hated in the past when we have continued to persist with players that we shouldn’t, it does them no good them or us. Davis for me is one of them, he’s a great kid and he should’ve been loaned out more to build up confidence in scoring but now he might never have that touch. We all get our hopes up, when he scored same time last season against Crewe and now this season against Burton....woohoo! He took the goal really well, but he needs to go out on loan and score another 15 of them in a lower league to improve. If he does well I’d be delighted for him to come back, but I don’t think he has it. Edited September 16, 2020 by nick76

He will learn a lot more from just being around Ollie and having higher target standard to aim for then competing with Samatta.
Pez1974
Delighted for him with the goal. He has so many attributes - including the stuff you can't coach, like his size, strength and awareness on the pitch. If he can steer clear of injuries, and get a full season playing under his belt with good coaching, I really think we will have a very good player on our hands. He joined us when he was almost 18. I'm not going to slag off Stevenage or Biggleswade's coaching, but suspect that players coming through our youth system will have had a better standard of coaching that he had for many years, so he's probably still catching up a little, especially given his injuries. Definitely one worth sticking with for another couple of years for me.
