The fact he got loaned to Derby's under 23s rather than their main squad indicates it was going to be a four month trial before deciding whether to sign him full time in the summer. If he's not good enough for a mid table Derby in the championship he certainly isn't going to be for us. Famously Bannan whose just a good championship played you championed as something really special, your track record isn’t great. ”Outgrown us” sorry another BS term....he’s a Villa player, a boyhood fan of us, been with us since a kid and are (currently) still a PL team. As for Man City, who knows, but top managers praise many players, it doesn’t mean they are going to buy them plus they have some real talent in that area. That could be due to his injuries and perhaps they don't consider him fit enough for week in week out championship but a player not considered better than Martyn Waghorn or Chris Martin isn't someone you'd expect to be playing premier league football anytime soon.
