We're so conditioned as to what a big fee is these days, but £8m quid is the going rate for any PL standard footballer these days.

Put in perspective, Steve Stone cost us £5.5m in 1999. Good player for Norwich. Experienced, wants regular football and has a good attitude by all accounts.

The new TV deal means fees have started to massively increase even compared to where they were 12-18 months ago - there's talk of Man Utd being linked with Ryan Bertram in the papers today, for more than £20m. If you want to know what a player is worth, take what you think he was worth last summer and double it - it's ridiculous at the moment.

Klopp is in a difficult spot - it's brilliant being a quirky character when you're winning, you're seen as larger than life, cavalier, a free sprit - when you're losing, those characteristics are viewed in a whole different way, I don't think Clop's career can withstand too much of a down turn; if people lose faith in his personality, he's done. He's on very rocky ground right now.
