Popular Post Brumerican
The best performance of the season and I had to imagine the whole thing . This is Lerner's Villa.

dont_do_it_doug.
Talksport post match seems to sum up my thoughts on us exactly, squad that isn't great but nowhere near as poor as they show every week, just utterly gutless Indeed. Luckily, only 4 of the players on the pitch tonight are likely to play a significant part on Saturday and 2 of those came on to change the game. That said, I feel like Sinclair played ok. Too lightweight, but nice trickery, pace, unlucky not to finish a jinking little run. Roll on the baggies. Roll on the feeling returning to my face. I think Saunders said that us recalling Guzan proves that it was a full strength side as well

I gave the ref a 'very good' for the lolz and Remi a 'very good' because that's just what he is. Followed the game, on and off, in the match thread. All I really know about the game is that Dean Saunders talks a lot of nonsense and that Celtic won 8-1.
villafan306
The first half was the worst I'd ever seen live. Second half we looked a little more composed and were never in any real danger. Got the job done but this is definitely our second string.

That and saying Grealish was a regular starter all last season and the scorer being KEEE-RON clark was pretty funny really. Oh and the surreal Deano Gaelic sports interlude, and it being his mom's birthday. He did give us the great "...it's not all about running..." too. Which you know, might have revolutionised ow I think abotu football.
villa4europe
That lay off from Gestede That was a shot. I for one did check it about five times to see if it was an intentional lay off or a shit first touch...

Hanky
Their centre half (Pierre is it?) looked a good player.
Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted January 19, 2016 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted January 19, 2016 Well, what I think we've learned is that the eleven that started the two league games is a lot, lot better than those behind them in the pecking order. I don't think anyone from our second eleven can come out of tonight and make the claim that they should be starting. Two particularly stood out for not standing out: Sanchez - we were still just about in the first minute of the game when he tried to dribble past an opposition player three yards outside our penalty box and gave the ball away. I think the best way to describe him is that I wouldn't trust him to hold a baby - he'd either forget he was holding it, or try and do something else at the same time or just let it slip out of grasp - based on how he treats a football, this man should not be trusted with a child. Grealish - at his best, what Jack does is show you the ball, then take it away from you, he makes spaces and goes past people; he can do special things. Today, given an opportunity in a position that allows him to use those skills, he didn't. He didn't turn anyone, or go past anyone and when he found himself in space he took the easy option and laid it off. I'm not so much disappointed that he didn't produce a moment that changed the game, I'm more disappointed that he didn't try. It was almost as if he was trying to prove he was sensible or that he could be trusted and forgot what he was good at. Sinclair's first half was abysmal, his second improved slightly - for a quick player, he didn't try to take a man on at all in the first 45. Gestede just isn't mobile enough and his lack of anticipation only exacerbates it. Richards could be brilliant, but his brain flickers on and off like a wonky strip light. In the end, it was noticeable that we won the game through an assist and a goal that came off the bench - first team players doing first team things. For me one of the more disappointing things on the evening was having to watch Gana shout at his teammates to speed things up from our own free kicks - he was clearly frustrated at the lack of interest elsewhere. On a positive note, with the season we've had, a win is a win is a win, it was good to see Gana score, Ayew was excellent and I was impressed with young Lyden - not so much for his ability, although he wasn't bad, but with the head he's got on those young shoulders. In fairness to Grealish, there was absolutely no-one on the pitch advising or talking our young players through the game. Grealish got lost, Lyden stepped up. He took responsibility, he organised players more senior than himself, he wasn't afraid of a scrap and he showed a little bit of nous as the clock wound down. I like him. I didn't realise he was a right back, if he's not then he gets extra credit. At this point, I'll commit to him looking like someone who will be Captain of a Championship club, I'd like to see a bit more to see if he's got the ability to be more than that. Finally, a word for Wycombe's support who were excellent and their number 5 who had a good game - they didn't appear overly impressed with our support, but then neither was I - I guess you have to understand what being a Villa fan is about right now to get a full understanding of our atmosphere for this one - I can only say to Wycombe, we're usually a fair bit better. Now then, who have we got in the next round? Oh. Yeah.

VillakevBromsgrove
We were pretty pedestrian for most of the match, we even started booing the back passes in the second half, we just made it so easy for them to get back into position and defend, Two decent goals and to be honest its what we deserved as they never really tested us and it was like watching a training match. Grealish needs to get fitter and stop ending up on his arse, even the home fans were getting bored of it, no surprise when he was replaced just in how long it took. Gill and Gana both showed why they are first team players when they came on and turned the game for us. Not a great match but now unbeaten in 4. tomaspg
two goals!?! what!? not supprised it wasn't on the telly, its obvious that Wycombe have been paid off, they probably fielded a team of 6 year olds who's had their asthma inhalers stolen! bit surprised he played ayew and gestede, personally i would have rested them but i have faith in garde, the man seems to know what hes doing!. beyond that i cant really say much about the game as i didnt hear or see it, well happy for both Clark and Gueye aswell as the whole team, another win to boost the team spirit and confidence! two wins in a row, its been so long i dont even know how to react
