Plea To Get Behind The Team

I dunno, I think after 5 years of shite the club really has to have a long hard think about what they do with STs next season, I personally think they'll do a price freeze and claim we're getting the extra games free, if the prices go up then they're on to a loser straight away, if they give me an indication that they're going to be assholes to anyone who wants away tickets buy not a ST then they're on to a loser

I think a few will walk away and have the year off, I think more than a few will obviously stay but I think there will also be a fair few that are there but resent it

It's such a big summer, will be interesting to see how the club reacts to the step down, if they don't and they take the piss out of us then I think the bad mood will linger onto next year

That's fair enough, just as long as they stay away if we bounce straight back up again.

I don't think that's strictly true

A year in the championship can make the ST look very expensive, I know I personally still don't know what I'm going to do, I struggle to justify the cost as it is, the additional games are a burden more than anything else because they're more than likely going to be mid week and a ball ache to get to, I think if mine goes up in price (and assuming I can still get away game tickets) then I won't get one

If it's about money and struggling to afford it then I understand completely but people who are just going to **** off for a season and then come back when/if we come back up because they just can't stomach the Championship might as well and go and bandwagon United or City.

What worries me is that when we go down people won't get fully behind the team when the new season starts. It's absolutely critical that we get off to a good start.

Mantis, when we go down mate most of the casuals will disappear not to be seen until we reamerge back in the top flight. The only good thing about being relegated I suppose. The real supporters will never stop supporting.

Mate I didn't think you were referring to me but even if you were I am a big boy and can take it.

In an ideal world we'd back the players to the hilt and by doing so they would perform better. It doesn't always work like that though does it as shown this season. Not one game this season, so far, has the game started with the fans on the players back. The fans have always been right behind the players willing them to win and shown good vociferous support at kick off especially away from home. Its only when it becomes apparent that the players are not trying as hard as they could, the performance is poor and we start losing that the supporters then become increasingly irate and some get on the players backs.

You can't realistically expect supporters to be fully behind the team if they don't believe they are putting a shift in. No fans of any other established top flight club would have put up with what we have this season and support the players in the main better than we have. I am surprised actually that it has taken this long for things to become slightly ugly.

I agree wholeheartedly with this post. For instance look at the chelsea fans who backed the manager over the players when it was plain as day they weren't trying. Fair enough mourinho got sacked but certain players are finished at that club long term. Fans never forget those that don't make the effort when wearing the colours.

I'm behind the players pretty much no matter what, tbh, and I admire Garde. They don't have to earn my support. They've got it, unconditionally.

I feel bad for the players right now, especially the kids brought in from abroad who don't have a lot of close family ties nearby. It's got to be tough.

Are you seriously telling me after the last five years of muck that we have a significant percentage of glory fan helping to pad the numbers? I'm generally stunned on match days that there are still so many like minded masochists turning up.

I haven't been in over 5 years now, think I'd actually turn up out of curiosity next season in the championship. ( It's mostly been a financial reason for staying away, though the last 5 years haven't exactly incentivised me to make any sacrifices :P ) Also,I will arrogantly assume we might actually win a game in the championship. I hadn't seen us win a live game in 3 years before I stopped either, so it's been about 8 years since I've seen us win a home match live ( I think v Watford ? when we signed Ashley Young ). That would be nice.

Are going to stay and clap the lap of honour vs Newcastle?

Clapping and cheering a team that will probably end the season as the 2nd worst in PL history

I personally think the abuse aimed at the coach isn't on but they're unbelievable lucky that VP hasn't turned on them yet, wasn't particularly fond of warnocks every touch being booed (or his numerous attempts at an own goal that brought those boos on) but I can envisage Guzan and gestede getting that before the end of the season, I don't think the vitriol has even started yet

I fear the last home game of the season.

Remember the embarrassing scenes when Blues went down? Fans on the pitch making a tit of themselves, tearing down goalposts and such. I can see that happening with us.

I love 99% of our fans. I think we're all **** great. But the minority is all it takes to ruin stuff.

I'll be doing what I've done for years - get to the games I can, and any local away games

If Swansea come down, and Bristol City stop up - that's 3 very local to me so I'll be taking those in.

Its a long ass day to get up there, watch us struggle to score 0, and head home.

It'll be the same next year too unless we have some massive shift in the club's mentality - but hey ho the Villa is my drug :) #takemetorehab

I'm still staggered today we have as many fans as we do going through the turnstiles considering how awful we have been not just this season. Ironically if we actually do well next season and actually look like getting promotion the numbers would potentially rise.

The only thing that can save that day would be relegating Newcastle.  They will be there in force laughing at us probably with some banners of their own.  Would be hilarious if we took them down with us.

I'll probably get a season ticket next season, for the novelty of seeing the Championship, plus the prices have to fall quite significantly.

I think I will as well. And I've never had one before.

As horrible as we are to watch, I don't like the thought of not being able to.

Strange, really.

Some people make out its the players that are the victims but I'm sorry this isn't the case here, the fans have put up with so much this season and for the other five and I'm afraid at the end of the day it us fans that are the victims. We've backed Villa so much over the years but it seems like we get nothing back in return.

Agree, they are very well paid, its the fans that have to pay out to support this dross.

Im not sure they will , we are already cheaper than a lot of clubs in the championship

I'm delighted that the players are finally receiving the response they deserve.

Let's not forget how good it's been when we've got behind them. Oh wait.....

They want an easy ride. Hopefully they won't be getting it because they are an utter disgrace.

It's a decision their finance/marketing have to figure out/

But obviously, sales will unambiguously fall due to relegation, so prices must adjust to make up (some) of the short fall.

I will bargain that they remain the same , out of interest i renew in march each year i wonder if partial refunds would be issued to those who buy early

I'm becoming a dad very soon so that's probably going to put my 15 year ST run on hold. I'll pick and choose my games next year and will certainly do a few more away games than I have in recent years.

I just hope the main shit bags that relegate us don't play next year. I have no interest at all in cheering on the likes of Guzan, Westwood, Sanchez and Sinclair.
