An article in the Brisol Post has repeated that we're in for him, although it references the same French site. Don't know much about him, but certainly has some good stats and had a good season last year. Could be what we need.

ASTON Villa have reportedly tabled a formal bid for Bristol City hot-shot Jonathan Kodjia.

According to France Football, Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo has stepped up his interest in the Ivory Coast striker and is testing City's resolve with an offer of around £5 million.

As reported in the Post on July 11, Kodjia is the man Di Matteo wants to help fire Villa back to the Premier League.

But City want to retain the services of a player who scored 20 goals in his debut season in English football and, given that the 26-year-old Parisian has two years left on his contract with the option of a further 12 months, the Championship club are in a strong negotiating position.

I am not on Twitter. What has he said.

He reported first that we had bid for Ki from Swansea days before the media picked up on it. That's the only one I can think of.

Aston Villa have £5m bid for Bristol City's 20-goal striker Jonathan Kodjia rejected

  • Aston Villa have had a £5m bid rejected for Bristol City's Jonathan Kodjia
  • The Ivory Coast international scored 20 goals for the Robins last season
  • Sunderland, Stoke, Middlesbrough, Derby and Everton have watched him

Aston Villa have had a £5million bid rejected by Bristol City for striker Jonathan Kodjia.

The Paris-born forward was signed by Steve Cotterill last summer for £2.1m from Angers and emerged as one of the finds of the season as he scored 20 goals in his first campaign in England.

Sunderland, Stoke, Middlesbrough, Derby and Everton have also watched the Ivory Coast international.

While Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is looking to add a striker to his squad, the Italian is dealing with interest in two of the forwards he already has at the club.

West Ham, Bordeaux and Galatasaray have made enquiries for Jordan Ayew, while Hamburg have lodged an £8million bid, but Villa owner Tony Xia has insisted he will be staying at the club as they bid to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

Celtic have submitted bids of £1million, £1.25m and £2.2m for winger Scott Sinclair, but Villa want at least £5million for the 27-year-old.

The Villa Park outfit have already brought in Tommy Elphick from Bournemouth, Italian goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini and Aaron Tshibola from Reading this summer.

Kieran Richardson, Charles N'Zogbia and Jose Angel Crespo have all left the club following relegation.

They open their Championship campaign against Sheffield Wednesday on August 7.

Hard to make a judgement really.

He did brilliantly in his first season but, how many times do you see a player have a brilliant first season, only to never come near that level of performance again.

Don't know... it's been so long since anybody did well in any season for us!:(

Feels like it anyway.
