Wainy316
These people that 'don't get' South park are probably people that remember it when it first started out, when it was just toilet humour. Now it is quite simply the best piece of TV there is. It is far cleverer than the others and very relevant as it focuses on topical issues and satire. You also can't help but agree with nearly every message they put accross, every single religion has been a victim of their expose and it usually makes so much sense. If you do start watching it make sure you catch it from series 5 onwards.

Wainy316
The toilet humour hasn't gone completley, thats part and parcel of the whole thing, but now it has some kind of meaning.

tonyh29
South Park is simply off the radar, it's so shite. can't believe I just read that I show that has Tom Cruise in town hiding in Cartman's wardrobe with the whole town outside saying "come out the closet Tom " and so forth for the whole episode a teacher called Miss Chokesondick , cartman telling the jewish kid with ADD that maybe he needs to go to a concentration camp find me a funnier comedy show Trust me it's funnier than i just made it sound , comedy writing doesn't appear to be me strongest subject .... JB
Strongly disagree about starting South Park at season 5. You’d miss some very, very funny episodes if you did. For instance, the Cartman Joins NAMBLA (North American Man Boy Love Association) episode, Gnomes and Timmy episodes, amongst many, many others. What also annoying is only series 1-4 are available in Europe, with no sign of 5+ being released.
Stevo985 Posted August 9, 2007 VT Supporter Share Posted August 9, 2007 Personally i think the first ever south park episodes is one of the funniest. Some absolutely classic cartman moments in that. Also the rainforest one, season 3 I think. Brilliant brilliant BRILIANT!
Grant(aka_eddy)
Family guy for me. Isnt it made by the same people as the simpsons? I know they mocked themselves for it early on. Basically the simpsons but more adult and imo funnier for it. WIth the Simpsons Homer steals the show everytime, whereas Stewie and Brian do alot more in Family Guy to keep the laughs up along with Peter. Futurama is very easy to watch but also rarely makes me piss myself laughing, good entertainment but too average to be a huge hit. South Park is very funny in moments but i got bored of it after about 2000. Family Guy Simpsons South Park Futurama

Basically the simpsons but more adult and imo funnier for it. Not made by the same people. The Simpsons mocked Family Guy for the blatant and sustained plagiarism. That's why I can't completely get on board with it to be honest.
Svenne
South Park The Simpsons I have to say these days South Park is the greatest show on earth. The way the play with the irony, and topicality. The show's really grown over last few years, as has the simpsons, whom I grew up with. So that show will always bere with me so to speak. I just hope Trey Parker and Matt Stone keeps going as long as Groening has Haven't really seen Family Guy that much, so I can't really put my opinion on it. Futurama is just sporadic fun. I still use the term crocostimpy when I see a crocodile - anyway I digress As for Beavis & Butthead - sorry but they just weren't funny imo and I did watch a lot of them :? Tomaszk
Whereas South Park has grown and got better and better, Simpsons started well, then entered legendery status around 4th season to about 6th and then began to slowly decline. The new ones now are crap. I think they need to go back to 2d animation, I hated the film when it all kept going 3d, the thing that made it so orignal was the fact the animation was so 'standard'

The new ones now are crap. Spot on. Although I am occassionally disappointed with some of the newer episodes of South Park. Free Willy, the Day Before The Day After Tomorrow (or whatever it was called) and the one where they frame that kid for burning a teacher spring to mind. JB
I loved the Lord Of The Rings one! And the Garrison gay sex vehicle one. World of Warcraft was complete toss though, agreed.

In "2 days before the day after tomorrow", there's a bit where they are running away from "global warming" and one guy falls over and proceeds to be mauled to death by absolutely nothing. Cracks me up every time!

El Zen
I'm a big fan of Family Guy, so they obviously get my vote. I'd have American Dad up there too, so I guess I'm quite fond of Seth McFarlane in general. Simpsons is funny too though, but I think I like Family Guy better because they just take the satire a little bit further. Futurama was definitely a very good show as well. South Park, well, has never really been my thing. Haven't watched it for a while, admittedly, but it never really made me laugh.
