Popular Post AshVilla
Good news....I remember GH saying that Duverne used a lot of ball/technique work in his fitness programmes plus the difference between now and before is that we have actually got some good technical players compared with MON's long ball cast offs.I also remember Houllier mentioning something about altitude trainingMaybe Duverne can make Gabby run up everest then leave him there Edited November 3, 2015 by AshVilla
dudevillaisnice
I would imagine whilst he was watching the game yesterday Garde had the same views that many others (like myself) have regarding fitness. They just aren't fit enough to close down and win the ball back. Would not surprise me if we he went through a pre-season regime, he did it last time he was here in March and in my opinion it paid off.

Mantis
Good news. Fitness is such a huge issue at the moment - we concede late almost every game now.
rubberman
I agree, though it does seems ridiculous that we've had pre-season then a mini-pre-season and STILL they aren't fit enough. How can that be? We really are in a right state.

stewiek2
Because the mini preseason was a butch Wilkins passing sideways and floaty ball masterclass.
bose
Such a basic fact to have the players as fit as possible using all the technology available to do so. Great news to get a proper fitness coach in that knows his stuff.
coda
This question about fitness is trotted out every season.

DCJonah
I always thought it was a bit daft what happened with them. Dunne and Collins are two experienced players who performed brilliantly the season before. I think with some players, especially older ones, they know they're bodies they know what to do. Houllier and his back room staff really managed to destroy what was a solid defence in a short time. Hopefully him returning with Garde will have a more positive effect this time round. It's not even like that defence was amazing the entire season but more like two thirds of it. I think Milner has to take a lot of the credit. MON's fitness regime was a joke which is why the team always burnt out by March.
DCJonah
If Paul McGrath was asked to train harder and refused due to he knew his body, would he have been a disgrace?

Cliffy Biro
If Paul McGrath was asked to train harder and refused due to he knew his body, would he have been a disgrace? Yea because I'm sure Collins and Dunne knew their body and not just couldn't be arsed and wanted to go out clubbing.
Isa
If Paul McGrath was asked to train harder and refused due to he knew his body, would he have been a disgrace?Yes but you are the one presuming this thing about their physical limit. Collins was 27 at the time.
sexbelowsound
Anyway, I'm happy Garde is getting the coaches he wants around him. Hopefully next it'll be his Lyon staff.
