New manager

I'm sure Moyes is a good manager but is he the right guy in this situation? I haven't checked details and could be wrong but I have a feeling his Everton teams often had slow starts after there had been changes in the squad from previous year. So could he be a manager who gets it right eventually but needs time? We don't have time. I think ideally we want experienced survival specialist with short term contract (no, I don't have a suggestion who) and then Moyes in the summer. Of course, we aren't exactly in a great position to be picky.

The only person we should be considering is David Moyes. I get that he is another Scot and doesn't excite the footballing senses. But he is way way out of the McLeish and Lambert bracket. we are in desperate need of some organisation, steeliness, never say die attitude and a style of play that will see us survive.Moyes can be that person who sees us comfortably mid table. And right now I'm sure we would all give our left bollock for that. He did a fantastic job at Everton. He built a really solid midfield with a bit of flair and a great defensive unit on a small budget at a club of similar size to us. Forget Utd and sociedad there are many reasons why that hasn't worked out. Credit to him for trying and I'm sure he's learnt from it.

Hasn't he made it pretty damn clear he doesn't want the job? He also just bought a house in Spain. He doesn't want to be seen as running away from pressure. I don't think Moyes is coming.

Did think once that Hasselbank could do the job,but on reflection an experienced Manager is what's required, given time Moyes could produce a team at our club, although the one big drawback is as with any new Manager the players are not his, that's the conundrum.Mind you turning to Spain may not be a bad idea if not Moyes, the name of Diego Simeone would be a great appointment,no messing with him and an eye for a player, may see the fact that Klopp has come to the PL as an additional challenge. Simeone or Moyes.

I would be happy with Bob Bradley, i dont think there is anyone bether available for the moment.

Would love to see that appointment. Ten times smarter than just about any manager in the league. Good at working in multicultural situations.

Curbishley pundit'in on BEIN Sports at the moment, says Villa need a manager with PL experience who can come in and give the fans what they want, a completely new start. Maybe he got a text from Randy after the official statement ;)

As much as I dislike Harry Redknapp as a personality, you can't argue with his record. He has a history of putting together entertaining and effective teams.

I think you'll find you can argue with his record. His history is of bankrupting clubs and buying as many players as possible in the hope some of them work out. Over rated manager and would relegate us easily.

He didn't bankrupt Spurs? He worked under Levy who hardly allows managers and free reign, and turned into a very good team. He even managed to do it when their best players were getting sold.

A few years ago I never would have considered this, but I reckon he could do a job for us. I don't the board would go for him anyway. Moyes has to be first choice.

Well done to him on not bankrupting Spurs.

Maybe we should ask Southampton, Portsmouth and QPR fans what they think.

Too far north, and after the shit he always gets at VP, including having stuff thrown at him (a coin that hit the linesman a few years ago?), I can't see him taking the job.

We are going off topic here - but who's responsibility is it to manage the club's finances? The manager or the board?

We have been on a tight budget for years since MON because we've signed players and given them crazy contracts - is that the manager's fault or the board for allowing it to happen?

Please not Pearson. I don't want that arrogant clearing in the woods anywhere near this club. We are already a laughing stock after Sherwood's hard work.

I don't think it would work -- bad fit. I don't like the guy's personality one bit, but that's not my objection. I think he would freak out out players.

Moyes at this point is probably a bit of a stretch but Simeone? To us?
