Swansea end a 5 match losing streak. We are a joke. I hope we get relegated and it costs Lerner an absolute fortune. We will come back but Lerner's bank balance will be severely damaged. Lol

Not sure we could come back if we went down. I do not care about Lerner's bank balance, I care about the club.

Thought Guzan on hiding to nothing with freekick - if he'd have edged over and be beaten the other side we'd have said 'let the wall do its job'

Hutton and Richardson did ok - Richardson tired in the last 30 and should have been replaced

Lescott still struggling but at least took responsibility and I thought a little improvement

Richards good player but to undisciplined - set an example

Grealish didnt quite get into the game but didnt hide - fair play

Bacuna tried but looked a little lost

Gana did well and needed someone sitting in with him

Ayew also tried to make things happen - think he was trying to impress his brother. Looked like he could have done with a clearer role

Gabby worked hard and gave his all

Gestede - hmmmmm  he can't really hold it up, he has a realy heavy touch and for a heading specialist he doesnt win that many flick ons.  Looks out of his league at the moment

All in all to me it looked like we have the players to be lower midtable but we need a manager who can provide a clear vision and a settled side

Time to go Tim!

That might be as well as I've seen us play in the league this season. Which says something.

Individually a number of players did quite well, Ayew was excellent and I owe him an apology, Gana had what I thought was his best game for us, Hutton was good - individually, we were fine.

As a team, we're not so good - and that's because individually we have some good football players and as a team they're managed by an idiot.

Personally i think its clear that the players are not the problem.

The manager and the entire backroom stack need to be culled and we need to start again.

For the players to still look unfit at this stage is down to poor coaching. The schoolboy errors and woeful passing are due to poor coaching.

These players have played well under other regimes so clearly something at the club is the cause.

In all seriousness, i reckon i could get more out of these players given a week than we have seen from tim this season. Hes completely clueless.

If he isnt sacked this weekend i wont be attending another club event or putting any money into the club until he is.

The result I predicted as I walked up to the ground, even down to the late winner from Swansea:(

Another game another Tactics Tim roulette wheel team section and tactics. The first half was grim, the second half got better and amazingly we score a very well worked goal. Yet again we then sit back and concede a soft foul and then the inevitable goal. OK we had some moments in the second half when we could have scored but in the last 10 minutes Swansea swapped it round and the inevitable happened. Their winner was typical Villa we concede from piss poor defending thus gifting them a goal out of nothing

Yet again Sherwood was outsmarted and again he made the wrong substitutions. Gana was dead on his feet so he gets left on when he could have made a straight swap for Sanchez. Richardson is having a mare with their right winger (Monk's smart tactical substitution BTW) who is literally about twice as fast as him so we leave him on and leave Amavi on the bench who is quick. Gil for Grealish who was doing fine was odd and then too late he brings on Adama for Gabby when it would have been better to have brought on Gil for Gabby and kept Grealish on the pitch.

As I have said a couple of times we simply cannot afford to have a manager learning his trade with us. That is now six straight defeats and one win in 10 games so I think his time is up. I will lose what little respect I have remaining for the club and its hierarchy if he remains our manager.

I say good riddance tbh. Club belongs in the lower leagues. Don't let it get you down lads, just forget about it all. Spend your time doing something else

Yep after having 105 seasons in the top flight, the club belongs in the lower leagues. Ok

This is pretty much how I saw it.  If Sherwood had anything about him he should have got Richardson off straight away when he saw how quick that bloke was.

I remember the relegation season in 1987 and there is the same defeated acceptance in this team.  When the equaliser went in there was only going to be one winner.

I personally feel that we havent deserved our place in the prem for 5 years now. We are a big club with a small time owner, smalltime coaches and smalltime ambition.

We do not deserve a place in englands elite right now because no one at the club is fighting for it.

I agree. But there is a difference between deserving to be in the championship and belonging in it

Had plenty of time to reflect on today's game before posting.

Looking at the starting 11 I thought we may have had a chance of getting all 3 points as it was an attacking formation and after watching the first 20 mins it was obvious we could get the result, Swansea looked awful and definitely beatable.

What really gets me is the stupid, thick moronic supporters who start getting on the players backs after 5/10 minutes.

The atmosphere was awful inside the ground and it's not helped by the constant negativity hurled towards the players.

How can you expect them to fight and give 100% when you throw abuse at them?

We all love the Villa but come on try supporting and being positive it may help the players confidence on the pitch

That's it blame it all on the fans. The players were getting plenty of support when we went 1-0 up. But being the losers  which they are they some how managed to lose against a poor Swansea side on the day.

I was on the road all day and just watched the highlights now. Typical Villa, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

But how did we play on the whole, despite the capitulation?

Did the crowd turn on TS at the end?

On the whole we were poor as were Swansea. Maybe deserved a point. And as for the last part, not really.

I'm not blaming the fans just the small minded few who from the 1st minute started getting on the players backs when things didn't go our way.

I am a fan of Aston Villa FC and I will always support the players for 90 minutes of football and get behind the team with positive support. I will do my moaning and bitching whilst walking to Aston Station.

If you can't support the team with a positive attitude then don't bother turning up!

The players feed off the atmosphere and if it's crap and negative it will impact their performance on the pitch.

Either get behind the team and do your bit or don't bother, simples!!!

For what it's worth....

Guzan - 6 - Didn't mess around with playing ball out from back, Good Save from Ayew. Bad for free-kick, you give some one that much to aim for you need to able to cover it as the free kick was going no where else.

Richardson - 4 - Poor, gave ball away. Walking back for 2nd goal. Terrible free kick early on when we were on top, needed to go in box not straight at keeper. Tired after break and should have been subbed.

Hutton - 6 - Energetic, didn't give their left wing much. Good forward runs but dog toffee end product.

Lescott - 4 - No comment necessary

Richards - 5 - Showed inexperience as centre back by giving away foul, always wears heart on sleeve but as captain you need more in last 20 minutes when seeing out games.

Bacuna - 6 - Didn't do much wrong, needed help last 30 minutes.  Set pieces not great.

Gana - 6 - Tried to push on but tired in second half, no lack of effort.

Grealish - 5 - Wasn't helped with formation, hardly got in game but summed up in 2 periods for me - 1 set up move for goal and 2nd hands up in air when was trying to press high up pitch but noone else was, next thing getting subbed, in my mind he was right to pressure high up.

Ayew - 7 - Good game, but often run into areas with no support although the lack of movement in front of him was shocking. Goal taken well.

Gabby - 5 - Good assist, not much else, he either needed to run channels more or sit on last defender, movement was not good.

Gestede - 5 - No movement, only had 1 half chance, can only remember 1 cross finding his head - if your not gonna put crosses in for him no point playing him.

Subs

Gil - 5 - Wrong choice of sub to shore up game, not played in right position to make a difference.

Traore - Not enough time, should have just stuck him right up top to make them sit deeper no open pitch up.

Sherwood - 2 - Poor team selection, poor pre-match comments, poor post match interview. Looked like he had given up sitting on bench.

First match I've been to this season, very similar to watching last year's team.

Guzan ok, beaten by good free kick. 6.

Hutton - good game 7

Richards - ok but got a bit carried away 6

Lescott - poor, slow. 4

Richardson - ok up to the last period then done for pace 5

Bacuna - ok 5

Gana - good but overwhelmed in midfield. 6

Grealish - ok but needs to move the ball quicker. 5

Ayew - great game today 7

Gabby - off the pace but tries and laid on the goal 5

 Gehstede needs support 6

manager 5

Richardson, Lescot and Gabby just don't have the pace at this level any more and shouldn't be exposed to this.

We need to stiffen the midfield and have a more defensive minded player in there and subs to come on when people tire.

our centre forward needs support and quality balls into him.

We need to break forward much quicker and we need to decide how to deploy our creative players. Grealish, Ayew, Bacuna.

our manager needs to decide on a settled team and gamble his job on them. Defensive players especially. Must improve use of substitutes. Today again that killed us.

Soon as the team sheet came out it was another wierd decision by sherwood. Don't think ive been happy with any starting lineup hes put out. No idea why bacuna is in the middle, richardson is starting over amavi and lescott is playing at all.

There was more fight from most of the players than we have seen in recent times but both teams lacked quality. Ayew was our best player but once again sherwood failed to make the right substitutes and at the right times. There was such a high intensity to the match and once again he doesnt even use 3 substitutes. He wanted to bring a winning mentality to the club and some how hes brought an even bigger losing mentality. I really thought he would be a decent manager but i'm just amazed by how terrible he is tactically.

Time for a new manager to enter the disaster that is AVFC
