I know the next episode of Coronation St is next week. When is the next episode of shooting in the USA,cant be far away.

These people have decided thats the way they want to live.In a country where you risk your life just going to school,or a show downtown,or something else that the rest of the world find quite commonplace and safe.

On the topic of the tipping point, personally I'd say it's a lot of things but the internet is a big one. It moved people into silos.

There's an interesting (for want of a better single word) article here on the only two US school shooters who are out of jail.

This was pre-Columbine, and the murderers were charged as minors so could only be held until 21 - after which their records were sealed. Caused outrage and the changing of some state laws (but not gun laws as far as I can tell).

Iowa shooting: Child and parents shot dead while camping

Quote

A six-year-old girl and her parents have been shot dead while camping in the US state of Iowa, police have said.

The bodies of Sarah and Tyler Schmidt, both 42, and their daughter Lula were found in their tent in the Maquoketa Caves State Park.

The couple's nine-year-old son survived the attack, a neighbour said.

Police believe the suspected shooter, a 23-year-old man, then turned the gun on himself. His body was also found in the park.

Mr Mortvedt told local newspaper, The Des Moines Register, that there had been no reports of an earlier altercation between the suspect and victims.

The suspected shooter has been named as Anthony Orlando Sherwin, who was also staying at the campsite.

It's OK though. Probably just a mental health issue. Phew, no harm done.

It literally be anywhere. Any town or city, in the shops, at school at the post office, train station. It's a form of terrorism.

Are you sure ?

There seems to be so much of it that it could be a form of recreation or a new sport.

Parkland school shooter verdict reached. Killed 17 at a school, the deadliest shooting to reach a jury trial in US history. The jury's findings has taken over half an hour so far to read, govern how many there are. Looks like he's escaped the death penalty, which suggests his lawyers have done a good job, as even as someone who doesn't support the death penalty, you can see why many might think the completely pointless and mindless murder of 17 people, the majority of them teens, might be a solid case for a trip to the execution chamber. As a result he's got life behind bars, which won't be terribly good for him one suspects given the state of US prisons, and you'd probably expect an inmate to shank him at some point.

Some of the parents in the courtroom look like it wouldn't take much to push them to killing him with their bare hands right now. A few look genuinely disgusted.

At 117 dead via guns in my new home city... yay Columbus Ohio!

In better news, that shithead kid who shot up the school in Michigan last year, at least had the good sense to finally plead guilty and avoid a completely meaningless trial. He has dumped mum & dad in it though by stating that the firearm was not secured at home. They are separately on trial as being complicit in some sense (not at all clear how this will go as it is a bit of a test case), and have stated that the gun was in a locked drawer.
