You Wear It Well

I remember my Mom buying me a pair of Gola trainers for school once (you could get away with wearing black trainers instead of shoes), and I was mortified. I never wore them for school, and think I maybe only wore them once ever, to play football it. I recall years later Gola being a bit of a cool brand, but my old prejudiced wouldn't let me accept that. Gola is for tramps, and my 11 year old self will never let me forget that.

There's was a fleeting moment back in the, when?, mid 80's? I'd met my missus and I had my own money, so it must have been later than 1983/4 when Fiorucci jeans became 'the thing'.

From memory, back then they were about £100 for one particular cut and colour of these jeans. I bought a pair - and as was the other fashion of the time, I cut all the labels off so that nobody but about 6 other idiots in South Wales would recognise and know what I was wearing. That, briefly, was the height of cool around my manor.

I have quite a regimented dress code , it goes thus :

Trainers , Shorts and T-shirt when it's hot

Trainers , Jeans and a T-shirt when it's cold

Suit with shoes  for Weddings and funerals

At work???

Don't get him started

too late B)

I admire your consistency, but the rule that everyone who wears a suit to work is crap at their job is, of course, absolute nonsense.

Exactly, Harvey Spectre is awesome.

When I was a teenager I spent £150 on a pair of rockports (yes I know, I bet I'm not the only one to do so on this board!). They lasted forever and with a bit of polish came up like new.

Part of me is tempted to buy another pair. Can pick up a pair of these bad boys for about £40 with discount codes from the hut. I'm thinking for out and about at the weekend, obviously nowhere 'nice'.

I had so many pairs of these in the 90s. I don't think even nostalgia would make me buy another pair though.

I am tempted by these bad boys though:

The younger lads in our office don't wear socks with loafers..seems odd to me

Gotta be honest, I do that.

They'll be wearing those socks designed for ladies I'd suspect. :P

nope barefoot they've told me as they don't like the feel of socks

The **** is wrong with people? How can a generation just that decide that socks are uncomfortable?

Jesus, for some reason that's annoyed me.

I guarantee they absolutely do not think that socks are uncomfortable.

They do it because it looks good, but don't want to admit they're following a trend when asked about it.
