Popular Post Xela
The shambolic Fire Safety Bill finally passed yesterday after the Commons rejected the Lords amendments to protect leaseholders for the fifth time. In the end the Lords didn't challenge it any more and it passed and is now on its way to being law. The clause everyone was fighting is that the bill states that leaseholders are 100% liable for the full cost of any defective property, including fire safety defects. Yes, thats right, even if the building wasn't constructed to regulations at the time, the leaseholder needs to pay. Some bills are coming in for people at £100k plus and needs paying within 28 days. I don't think the tories understand that this could potentially impact millions of people in flats. They've shown a callous disregard for the one set of people, who are entirely not to blame - the leaseholder.
Jareth Posted April 29, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted April 29, 2021 It's a sort of madness that it's taken this long for the likes of the BBC to realise that loveable Boris is actually utter shite. I'm cynical, I think they always knew, and that whoever is really in power (the 1922 commitee?) have decided it's time for a change of leadership. My money is on Jeremy Hunt, he's been positioning for ages.

Admittedly there's the obvious thing about Sunak which the average Tory party member will have a problem with, but he's the most popular with the public, and therefore the most likely to keep the money flowing to them. I just think that Sunak will be dealt with at some point. Won't take much for it to come out that he was against most of what has made him popular. Especially when Gove has Murdoch and Rothermere batting for him

Wainy316
Gove is a little weasel. I don't think he's the chest thumping type that would resonate with the rabble.
