I just stumbled across this. A trial run whereby players will be given a green card for sporting behavior in Serie B this season.

Seems a bit pointless to me, although it is an admirable idea in principle. Would be pretty cool if you could earn one of these and then get

a freebie at someone, e.g., Rooney.

Heard about this, would rather the time spent giving a green card was used for video replays of big decisions like an offside call, we've seen in cricket and tennis how quick the calls can be made

This is fine, but the incentive to get one is basically non-existent at the moment.

Make them count as a negative yellow in terms of suspensions etc, and we'd be talking. You've got your 5 yellows, but you're not suspended yet because you picked up 2 greens along the way.

Just bring in more video replay to get big decisions right. The sooner we Americanise the sport, the better. Take it out of the hands of the morons in the middle.

And put it in the hands of a moron in a room with a TV instead?

The MOTD panel of "experts" show every week what a video ref appeal system would lead to

As for green cards, file under bollocks

File under bollocks right next to video replays.

Better off suspending players for five games who can be seen diving on a video review.

What exactly constutes sporting behaviour?
