dont_do_it_doug. Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Quote Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign West Brom defender Joleon Lescott. And Sportsmail understands the former England international is highly likely to join the Villa Park club once the Baggies find a replacement, in a deal worth around £2million. VillaJ100 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) Not a bad signing provided we haven't paid too much/given too much in wages. He's experienced but what 33? Only got a couple of seasons left maybe. But a good head to have around BH! Edited August 28, 2015 by VillaJ100
AlwaysAVFC Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I've never been his greatest fan, even in his prime but if it goes through his experience will be useful to have around. He adds to an attacking threat from set pieces as well.
OutByEaster? Posted August 28, 2015 Moderator Posted August 28, 2015 Good. I don't think that hurts at all. So does Baker go out on loan now?
briny_ear Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Good. Glad to see Timmy is paying some attention to our defence and Lescott is a player I have fancied us signing for a few years. Pity he is so far on in his career now but, fates willing, he will stay fit and give us a couple of decent seasons.

Jareth Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Ideal vlaar replacement which will do even for just one season. Plenty of time now in window to nudge the net spend up a few more mill and buy that striker we need.
PieFacE Posted August 28, 2015 VT Supporter Posted August 28, 2015 Meh. Alright I guess. Not better than what we currently have imo. 2
Wainy316 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Wish it came a couple of years earlier but still a good signing. We might actually score some goals from defence now too! 1
Duck Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Defence starting to look stronger now, think we were missing an experienced CB. Richards is good but he's not experienced enough in that position to lead the line. Clark is young and will learn from lescott and match time over the season. If he stays fit and gets game time I can see the whole defence benefitting as a unit. Amavi, lescott, Richards, Bacuna
Paddywhack Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I don't think he'll move from West Brom to Aston, because there is a gang that will hurt if they find him, I heard. 1
Xela Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Meh. Alright I guess. Not better than what we currently have imo. I think he is much better than Clark at the moment IMO. Richard and Lescott will be a good pairing 1
Designer1 Posted August 28, 2015 VT Supporter Posted August 28, 2015 As I said elsewhere, I think he'd be a very shrewd signing. Always liked him and I think his experience would be a real positive. 1
dont_do_it_doug. Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 Completes our defence, IMO. We aren't going to get an Ottemendi type are we, even players like that who in my opinion aren't of the elite level of day 10 years back are going for ridiculous money. We already have potential in Okore, a forgotten man by many. There isn't a better move we could make IMO. Hope it happens.
