romavillan Posted August 4, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted August 4, 2015 I fear that we are being used as porn. It's all this talk of facials Agreed and too much talk of "pulling this off" does not help. steady DDID said no-one was to beat themselves before the bournemouth game
NurembergVillan Posted August 4, 2015 Moderator Share Posted August 4, 2015 @ isa. Yes we have been crap for 4 years but what about the preceding 130 odd years? Do they become irrelevant? I know some people have overly ambitious expectations of our club but I really don't think suggesting we are a more attractive club than Stoke puts me in that bracket. To be fair, apart from three years in the early 80s we've been competitive at best for most of the last 100 years. We've certainly faired better than most (you'd expect that to play a role in a player deciding to join us or Stoke), and there's a good argument that were it not for the First World War we'd be the size of Real Madrid now, but to truly refer back over the last 130 years you're really focussing on the first 30 or 40 of them. What we did over 100 years ago is pretty irrelevent to be fair, except to us. I can understand saying we should be looking to be better than Stoke, Swansea etc. but to say we are currently a more attractive club is rather OTT.

Do you really think it's "over the top" to suggest we are a more attractive proposition? This is not an attack on Stoke City at all, but take a second to think about that. Villa87
I'd fancy us over Stoke, but if Liverpool are genuinely in for him he will end up there.

Zatman
Dont really like the idea of a buy-back clause if im honest and would put me off this deal especially as will be close to what we pay for him

It's a win-win for Barcelona and a lose-lose for us. We pay €15m, if he's good, he goes back to Barcelona for a similar amount (so essentially a loan), if he's crap, we paid €15m for him and get stuck with him. Isa
You think it's over the top to even suggest it? I think to say it's 'staggering' to even compare us to Stoke and Swansea like we are a league above them is just a bit.
bannedfromHandV
I think given all the young players moving to stoke he's probably quite likely to head there
avfc1982am
I'm not really sure where he'll play...yes it's about a Squad ect but we seemingly already have players for right wing/right forward. Kind of worrying we are buying players for attacking roles & not a centre half m. We've been playing Bacuna on the right-wing all preseason, I'd say another winger is quite a big priority. Totally agree with this. We have strengthened down the left and middle yet the right still looks lightweight with only bacuna playing there.
