Adama Traore

Yeah... oh boy...

The way I see things is that players and their representatives are now extremely savvy and aware of the 'bigger picture' in football.  Just think about how much scouting, fitness monitoring, performance analysis, and so on, has evolved in the past few years.  Everyone knows the game has changed.  So promising young players now know which teams they can prosper in, in the way that various clubs throughout Europe deliberately set themselves up as a stepping stone, collecting raw young talent and selling it on for a profit.  Many teams in the Belgium, Dutch and Scandinavian leagues do this.  It ain't the prettiest, but adapt or die and all that.

Why can't Aston Villa be the preferred destination for brilliant promise that wants to get a game and develop?  And quite frankly why not go for that?

Isn't the standard of the Spanish second division very **** shite through?

Barcelona B have recently been relegated to the third tier too.

Exactly, they have to loan him out/sell with buy back clause along with any other talent in Barca B as playing in the 3rd division is just not an option

Aston Villa have stepped into the chase for Barcelona winger Adama Traore.

The 19-year-old has been consistently linked with a move to Liverpool but the Anfield club are not pursuing a deal for the Barcelona B starlet.

Adama, as he is known, has been a long-term target for Stoke City, who remain keen, but Villa have emerged as favourites.

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood is keen on signing Barcelona starlet Adama Traore this summer

The Spain Under 19 international is represented by the same agents who look after Jose Angel Crespo, the right-back Villa signed from Cordoba last week.

Villa have discussed paying a fee to take the winger on loan for the season, while a permanent £7million deal - with buy-back clauses included - is also an option.

Adama has been compared to Everton signing Gerard Deulofeu though Barcelona coaching staff believe he has greater potential owing to his willingness to listen and adapt.

He has already played for Barcelona's first team and made his La Liga debut as a 17-year-old substitute replacing Neymar in a 4-0 win over Granada.

If we buy this player, I am convinced that something takeover-wise has happened behind the scenes (maybe an additional backer with RL taking a back seat?). Yes, we can't afford to get relegated this season due to the new TV deal but that would be Amavi (statistically one of the highest rated under 23 players in the World), Veretout, an Under 20 World champion and now a player who made his Barcelona debut at the age of 17. Plus in addition to that, we have poached two very highly thought of members of Arsenal's boardroom. Something is fishy...

All will be obviously good investments, but why are players coming all of a sudden. Yes, we are well known abroad, but....we have battled relegation for 4 seasons on the trot now.

If the new players gel, we might spring some surprises this season.

Makes sense, a couple have performed in the premier league one hasn't even played in the premier league.

From Barca aint he, fashionable signing.

There is too much expectation already.

It'll end in tears if Adama Bin Laden with that.

He's very highly rated - coming from Barcelona hasn't got much to do with it.

Something is fishy...

This isn't the plaice for that sort of carping.

Oh for cods hake, I apologise for bringing the thread down (inadvertently) to fishy puns only 4 pages in. Leading up to the start of the season, forums such as this are tench plaices. This signing cod be an amazing opporttunaty and I don't think we could do any batter.

Yep but we already have ample cover in bothe areas if we revert to this.

Note - this was said before i wached his you tube clip.....this changes things!

Ah, got you. Even if we play 4-3-3, we can still do with a player that offers genuine width. Going purely by that video, he looks like he can offer a different dimension.
