Can we plant a tree in the box? Give it 20 years or so and we'll have a decent replacement.

Give Acorns a call and see what they can do.

There are hundreds of footballers who can do what Gestede does. He needs cross pin pointed to his head to have any impact on a match. Having Gestede in our XI is like playing a man down. It's actually probably worse because it forces us to play a terrible style.

Whilst he's not great, how many times was the ball played up to him? Mainly they were balls for him to run onto which is never going to work. When it was played up he flicked it on and Ayew could run on. As a back up  option with a different style he would work but not starting

We put some decent balls into the box in the first half and he was no where to be seen. His fundamental problem isn't the lack of pace, it's the lack of anticipation in the box - he's always on his heels.

He needs to know the ball is coming into the box, how many times today did you see the ball go wide, then back inside then backwards then back to the winger/full back, he can't anticipate a cross if we never get them into the box. Also half the time there was just him in the box, he needs support just like the rest of the team, he's shown he can be a good striker at this level if a team plays to his strength, our biggest issue is we don't want to play to any of our players strengths.

Keep him as sub but we need far better alongside Ayew.

Kozak and Sinclair seem on the way out so we need to be careful not to be light upfront.

we're positively weightless up top already.

gestede provides no threat, no movement or ablility up top and as you say, with Kozák and Sinclair looking likely to go there's hardly any alternatives other than very young youth players.

They did in the first half. Second half all Aly and Hutton did was check back...because honestly, what is the point in tossing in crosses when you forward is on his heels, edge of the box, picking his arse.

Why the hell did we even sign him in the first place?  Whoever watched him and thought, yeah, I'm having a bit of that must be mental.

What they saw was a guy who just scored 20 goals in the championship I suppose... It's not surprising that that particular regime went for statistical tests over the eye-ball test, the latter of course would have revealed that the guy was a total donkey.

Perhaps this signing should be a cautionary tale. £6m for a Championship striker with 20 goals seemed like good business. We're now likely to sign a 19 goal striker from Bristol City for more than double that sum, lets hope he has a lot more to his game than Gestede.

Fair one.
