Apparently not. https://investobet.com/blog/complete-midfielder-veretout-puts-villa-struggles-behind-him-at-fiorentina "Shortly before agreeing the move, Veretout had become a dad for the first time the move came at an awkward time for him and his wife Sabrina. Living out of a suitcase in a hotel with a newborn baby is hardly ideal and Veretout apparently wasn’t getting a lot of sleep. It affected his performances in training." Demitri_C
Scored past brighton tonight Massive shame never worked out here for him Edited October 5, 2023 by Demitri_C
VillaChris
Was actually thinking after seeing he'd scored Brighton would've been ideal club for him to get going in the English game. Probably after his nightmare spell here he didn't want to come back and play here and can't really blame him as he's had a really good career in Italy and France. Some leagues just don't suit certain players.

Sherwood was only his manager for 7-8 games so it was only a short term thing. Garde was his manager for the next 20 and he looked o.k in certain spells but very poor in others like the rest of them that horrid season. It was just a case of right player, wrong time like so many we signed that summer.

Villatillidie95
landed on page 99 of this thread, September 14th 2015, little did we know it but we had a grim grim time ahead of us and he was a massive part of that. So glad we have likeable players now and not the likes of him, him and ayew never smiled! Seems like he had a decent career after us, not that i kept up with it
LondonLax
At the Qatar World Cup we had more players represented from our disastrous relegation season than from our 22/23 squad. Our recruitment was actually pretty good when we were buying up all those young unknown players but we didn’t have the management in place to get the best out of them and there was always going to be a tricky period of adjustment. Unfortunately we only saw the best of them once they left for other clubs.

Rds1983 Posted October 6, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted October 6, 2023 He was in his early 20s, had moved to a new country with a heavily pregnant wife and had to then raise their kid in a hotel, he was being managed by dross, and their was clear issues and division in the squad between the English and foreign players (the Santa video and the French dictionary etc). Of course he was going to struggle and not look very happy. Would people prefer he was laughing about getting relegated and tweeting pictures of supercars?
