VillaChris
Best crosser we've had at full back since......Aaron Hughes.
mattyvilla
In my opinion thought he gave the ball away way to much today , looked quite shaky in and around his own box , good going forward though
TRO
Ken McNaught was written off when he first came .....after 20 odd games he was awesome. . Some players make an instant impact and don't sustain it......others make a slow start and become awesome. David a Platt was another example and so was Dwight Yorke......we need to chill , and let them settle in. Tim also needs time with them to Blend them, that could take a few weeks/ months.

PaulC
When was the last really good left back we've had. Gary Williams, Colin Gibson? This lad could be the best we've had in 30 years.

VillaChris
Freddy Bouma was brilliant. Took him 18 months and even then he wasn't that great going forward. Excellent one on one defender though.
PaulC
The benchmark is still Charlie Aitken. longest serving wasn't he? Played his latter years at villa beneath the top level though
Jay.P.A
Freddy Bouma was brilliant. Took him 18 months and even then he wasn't that great going forward. Excellent one on one defender though. But when he finally settled in, he was class. As a left back he didn't let much get past him. He and Ashley Young built up a very good partnership down the left hand side, at times when going forward he just needed to take a man away from Young when he was being doubled up on. Done his job tbh

theboyangel
Steve Staunton, Alan wright, Freddie bouma and pre-England call up jlloyd Samuel! However, certainly since bouma we have struggled to employ a competent left back. Amavi looks to have bucked that trend though!

DUNTONVILLA
Class. Looking forward to Gestade getting on the end of some of his crosses. Looks great going forward, made good intelligent interceptions but also think he can defend well.. Great addition to the team.

VILLAMARV
Staunton was the last one I thought was proper good. Bouma was probably the last one we all felt safe with. Glad to hear all the positive stuff from pre-season. Be nice to sort out the clubs achilles injury thats plagued us for a decade or so
