Aston Villa can confirm defender Jordan Amavi has been ruled out for the rest of the 2015/16 Premier League season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The 21-year-old suffered the injury on Thursday night playing for France U21s against Northern Ireland in a European qualifying fixture.

Everyone at the Club wishes Jordan a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back on a football pitch as soon as possible.

I have no doubts he'll play again...and for us whatever division we're in next season. If he was 30 or so like Bouma then yes worry for his career big time.

A fear though is he has great acceleration when running which is a part of his game going forward and defending. It's logical to think this injury will take a yard off his pace so he might have to modify his game a little coming back.

Get well soon anyway.

It's probably the best we could've hope for considering. At worst career ending, but if it's just a standard ACL rupture, it's bad but a lot of players have got over it.

Looks to me more like the worst possible outcome, Wainy.

I can't remember what sort of injury Okore had compared to this but that was a bad one and he looked good for most of last season until the last few weeks...other worry is it makes you more likely to pick up other injuries as the leg is weakened which is the issue Jores has had last few months.

Same injury I believe. Also the one suffered twice by the snake and Gardner.

There is an alarming number of ACL ruptures this season I must say.

Typical Villa.

I really feel bad for him and for the team. Wont help his developement really.

Anyway I hope he comes stronger and whoever in his position could fill some of his absence.

Him Gueye and Gil were our most exciting players.

When the manager has come and he only played one game for him. It was his last. Couple of games before he which was really a bad decision.

It will be this time next year before we see him again, ****. Let's get him sent to the best specialist possible so he can come back with minimal loss in performance.

9 months seems to be standard ACL recovery time. Could see him start the season next year.

The one small positive I can think of is that if we go down this might give us a better chance of holding onto him maybe?

I'm confident that he'll recover eventually (Benteke did after all) but it really is **** annoying, especially since it came on international break. Doesn't surprise me though - this shit happens to us all the time.

Every team has bad luck with injurys.

It's just that none of us follow any other teams closely enough to care when their players get injured.

But that's not true at all - some teams obviously have it worse than others and that's definitely been the case with us for the last few years. I check the injury table quite regularly and very rarely are we out of the top 5/6.
