Ingram85
He’s a piece of shit. Should be sacked, contract voided and told to **** off. It’s about time for heavy handedness on this crap now. It’s past education. It’s just hatred. This stuff along with racism just shouldn’t be excused as ‘differing opinions’ that the rest of us just need to accept and move on from. It needs hardline action and people/society/companies/organisations etc need to decide which side of history they want to be on.
Popular Post The_Steve
Some high-profile Qatari media types are tweeting support for him. It’s such a disgrace that they were ever allowed to the host the world cup.

I agree, but FIFA/UEFA won't want to poke that particular religious hornets nest too much.

He's just chosen to abstain? I disagree with him, and I'd be fully on your side if he was publicly expressing homophobic sentiment, but should we really be trying to end someone's career because they don't want to actively promote gay rights? Doesn't seem quite right to me. I struggle with it a bit, if someone was actively campaigning *against* gay rights, I'd have no problem piling on, but forcing people to campaign for it feels a step too far.
Popular Post ciggiesnbeer
Like several other footballers who have refused to wear something or show respect to a cause they hate I fully support his right to not wear anything. I also fully support my right to think he is a complete asshat and to boo him if I ever am unlucky enough see him on the pitch again. Free speech cuts both ways.
Popular Post El Zen
I feel obligated to defend his right not to support the cause when I’ve previously stood up for James McClean’s right not to wear the poppy (although my feelings about the respective statements differ greatly.) I feel equally obligated to say I think Gana is a medieval nonsense-believing bigot who should be resoundingly booed and jeered every nano second he ever touches the ball for the rest of his playing career. It’s about standing up to anti-LGBT+ violence - Gueye isn’t the victim here. It’s so damaging and hurts queer and LGBT Muslims too. People just want to live their lives in safety and they try to impose it on others. It’s very sad that so many are jumping to his defence.
