The 'Path Finder' update is out for this now, and has added a ton of content, so it looks about half the game that was promised. Land vehicles, bases shared online, different types of ship, and more difficulty modes included permadeath.

For anyone who actually stil has it.

I still have it largely because I buy everything digitally, but I can't see myself diving in again until the updates cease and the game is considered feature complete.

Good to see they didn't give up on the game even though it would have been so easy to just walk away. They were already getting nuclear level hate online that abandoning the project wouldn't have created that much more all things considered.

With all the updates is it worth picking up for less than £15?

I'd say so yes.

I haven't actually played the game with all the new updates yet, but word is the game is actually good now so for £15 you'll get some fun out of it.

It dropped to £12 on Amazon a few weeks back. Couldn't believe it. I know it had bad reviews but to collapse in price that much, especially for a small developer team, must have been absolutely crushing. Will they have made enough money to fund the next project?

The frauds will probably take their money and run for the hills.

Don't feel sorry for them, the guy that ran it was a blatant liar. He conned his customers, and lied right up until the last day before launch to trick as many people in to giving him money as he could.

It's a wonder he's not been dragged through the courts.

This is getting a story and 'fast travel feature' (portals?) patched in soon.

Which, considering you can buy it for about ten quid, might make it worth playing for more people.

What a damning summary :D

Unfortunately it's true. I would recommened it to most people for £10.00, which it is on PSN at the moment. That's a very fair price for game that has a considerable amount of content now - for that price.

Ten quid should get you 5-10 hours out of it for most people, which isn't terrible. I fully expect that some will still hate it despite the price, though.  The story may add more hours to it, that remains to be seen. It's good they're still working on the game a year later, making improvements to it, and if the work they've done in the past 12 months is anything to go by the additions will be welcome. Then again the 'story' will more than likely be more reasons to gather atlas stones and something significant to do with them at the end, so probably not of all that much interest.

Then again, buying it on PSN means you can't then sell it on. CEX currently sell for £12, buy for £5. So, £7.00. I do feel confident enough to say it's worth that.

The update for this appears to fix a few problems and chuck in a bunch of additional stuff. It also no longer looks like digital vomit. It might actually be with a punt, maybe? They claim to have put in a story even, which can only be a series of fetch quests surely, but better than nothing. Whether it now has much depth I don't think anyone can say yet.

Ironic that it comes bang on a year from release. It's almost like they did another year developing it. Almost like they released something that wasn't near finished.

Hmm.

I'm almost tempted to write off a tenner and try it.

I have finally taken the plunge on this one. With the new update and the fact it is £9.99 on the PS Store, it just seemed rude not to. Had a couple of hours on it last night and I actually quite like it so far...

Well the jokes about sea of thieves on xbox being the ps4 no man's sky of this year have just got a little more difficult.

Featuring all of the updates from the original PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the game, No Man's Sky will be coming to Xbox One in summer 2018, with HDR and 4K support for Xbox One X. The game will be bundled with the Foundation, Pathfinder and Atlas Rises updates, adding base building/sharing, planetary vehicles, weapon specialisation, permadeath mode, a new, overhauled central story line, portals, a new procedural mission system, trade improvements, system economies, joint exploration and more.

Why do they say “hdr and 4K support with Xbox One X” when the S supports hdr and 4K as well?

Because the Xbox One S can't do 4K. It can play 4K movies, but it can't run games in 4K. The Xbox One S is the basic underpowered Xbox One just smaller with slightly more CPU to handle 4K output of Netflix and Blu-Ray.

To advertise No Man's Sky as HDR and 4K on Xbox One S would be misleading so they don't.

PS. Yes Xbox One S has a 4K upscaler, but upscaling 900p to 2160p (4K) is not even close to the same as rendering the game natively at 2160p.
