A few of the guys get within a metre or two of attacking ball carriers and then seem to stand off the ball rather than attempt a tackle. Especially evident at Wembley from the offset. Nobody looked to have any desire to have a go. Granted it could have been a tactical decision, but I would expect a bit more passion and determination from the lads

I think it's our biggest problem...we don't press....we need to get players in who find it natural to do so.

I think it is also a major contributory factor to us having big peaks and troughs in performance and results.

To which we need 1st choice RB, LB and a CB. a midfielder and 2 strikers. Assuming Gardner steps up to the bench. So we'd probably need to be spending £60m+ this summer assuming Benteke goes. Probably more like $40m plus Benteke money so lets hope the new TV money goes on doubling the kind of money Randy has made available the last few years. Possibly not unrealistic but who knows.

We are in as bad shape squad wise as I can ever recall, the table doesn't lie. Unless there is a major change in our transfer budget then I can see anything other than the same outcome next season (or worse!). Remember the definition of madness is to keep doing the same thing while expecting different results.

2x CM to be first choice (Cleverly's replacement) and squad player

2x AM to replace N'Zogbia/Gil and whoever else TS deems to be a loser.

 

Attack:

 

3x ST to replace Benteke (to be first choice), Bent and Weimann (squad pushing for starting)

 

I make that 11 players in - never going to happen in a month of sundays (especially on the likely transfer budget)
