Ratings and Reactions: Villa - Everton

Can't fault Sherwood at all, he inherited a squad of lifeless footballers, no confidence, no form, no goals. We are a totally different animal now and the honeymoon period is well and truly over. What we are left with is a very motivated team who are plying excellent football and full of confidence. I'm very happy at the moment

Brilliant result. Just need to keep on going.

Can somebody explain in detail how Clattenburg was so bad? Been out all day so no idea what happened other than we conceded a penalty.

Whenever our players were going past theirs, they just held our players back, little niggly fouls that weren't given, a couple of appalling advantages were given and not given, he refused to book mccarthy, colman and barry - despite multiple fouls from all of them.

He blew for the same decisions to give Everton a FK.

Their 2nd goal was as obvious infringement on Given as is humanly possible. Everyone in the ground didn't know he'd given the goal, we all (inc Everton fans) assumed he'd given a FK to Given.. they barely celebrated the goal it was so farcical.

He's often not a bad ref, but he was absolutely abysmal (from a villa point of view) all game.

In fairness the penalty was a penalty. But he let so much go for Everton, they could have had several bookings, we could have had a lot more 3 kicks, every little thing went their way. We probably should have had our own penalty for a foul on Benteke and a few more free kicks in dangerous areas.

And Given was clearly fouled for the second goal.

Fantastic result and performance. If we carry on playing like this there's no reason why we cannot win our remaining games. However need to cut out the silly errors and defend better from corners. Delph and Cleverley ran the midfield. Barry was anonymous ans Everton should get rid of him in the summer.

Also, Everton fans were shite

There's isn't enough text on a page Mantis

But we can start with the fact that he should have booked about 6 of their players before he finally put one of them into the books.

I'm so glad that we actually look a threat now. Makes it harder for teams to just come here and expect and easy 3 points. Yet again the goals we concede are complete BS, it wasn't like they completely out played us.

Can't fault anyone out there really. Benteke maybe MOTM, but you could've given it to anyone of Cleverly or Delph tbh.

That move on 20 odd minutes was 49 passes and was only stopped by a foul on delph, who actually had put grealish in who could in turn have put tekkers in if crapenburg had played advantage.

Great game great atmosphere the first couple of minutes was electric.    Struggling to decade who our least effective player was they were all so good.  Thought we lost a little bit of shape after Westwood went off.  Great game disappointed I wont be at the next two.

I counted it as 48, Sherwood out!

But yeah remember watching it at the game and making sure I noted it on game of the day, loved this as it wasn't just meaningless passing it was probing at them looking for that opening and took Delph being hacked down to stop it, love it!
