Bakary Sako

Different end of the spectrum fee wise but if these rich Chinese fellas are coming in the day after the cup final win I think we should be looking slightly higher than Sako and go after the Roberts kid from Fulham. Or let's be greedy and get both

L'Equipe, the biggest French sports paper, are reporting that we are in advanced negotiations with Sako. It's worth noting that they were the first to report of our interest.

(Google translate alert)

Sako to Aston Villa

Elected this weekend at the annual team type Championship (English D2), the midfielder Bakary Sako Wolverhampton (27 years, out of contract this summer) could not stay long at that level. The former Saint-Etienne, author of 14 goals and 8 assists in the league this season, is in advanced contacts with Aston Villa, currently 15th in the Premier League (two points behind with a game in the 18th over). The Mali international, who had been close to commit this winter in West Bromwich (always attentive to the file) recently declined the offers came from the Emirates.

Wouldn't he be competing with Grealish for minutes?

We would have N'Zogbia, Grealish, Sako and potentially Sinclair competing for the support role(s). Seems fine to me.

And Gil, I hope (although I'm not confident). And Cole (?). Can't go too far wrong for a free I don't think, we've been looking at this guy for a while by the sounds of it.

I spoke to Wolves fans yesterday, apparently he does things for about 10 mins per game but goes AWOL

Yes my Wolves mate says the same, says he can be amazing for a short period of time and then completely disappear for periods, one of the most frustrating players he's seen down there.

Very much an N'zogbia replacement by the looks of it.

I'd rather have Grealish,Nzogbia,Gil and Sinclair to be honest. No need for Sako IMO

I still have a lot of reservations about this signing. If he was 22 then I'd be all for it but he's 27 and unproven in the premier league and he's far from consistent. Might be ok as a squad player but we should be setting our sights far higher. I hear West Ham are looking to sign Callum Wilson. I hope he stays at Bournemouth but would much rather we tried to sign him.

He was in the Championship team of the season - that seems to be pretty consistent to me?

Yes he was performing well when the votes were cast. Anyway looking at the team its strange that Bourmemouth have only two representatives and Watford one.
