ThunderPower_14
I don't expect to win, but i'm definitely not completely writing us off. Under Sherwood, we're scoring goals. Benteke is in electric form, and we just seem to be able to find the back of the net. Against Liverpool we even came from behind to win in a game that we dominated for 70 minutes. I know we can create chances and I know we can score them. We just need to play at our best and have some things to go our way and we'll be lifting the cup. But if we go toe-to-toe like he suggests, or play a high line as he has done against teams with pace and movement, then it will be an absolute smashing. sexbelowsound
I'll be intrigued to see how Sherwood sets us up. With Vlaar and Baker likely to start I think a high line would be suicidal.

Popular Post Jenko#4
I had a really random dream last night. We were in our seats at Wembley and rumours started amongst the crowd that Benteke had dropped out of the starting XI very late on, and that we had to start with 10 players as the teamsheet was already submitted (obviously I know that we could name another player- but not in my dream!!). We kicked off and held it at 0-0 for around 10-15 minutes, and then the Ultimate Warrior's theme music started blasting over the Wembley tannoy. Benteke comes bombing out of the tunnel with Claret and Blue ribbons tied round his arms and legs and starts single handedly tearing Arsenal a new one, smashing defenders into advertising hoardings, staring them down, and scoring screamers at will from all distances, until the Arsenal players were begging to be subbed off. I woke up the happiest man in the world this morning, and put a fiver on a Benteke hat-trick
nobler
Of course, winning it would be the best thing ever but if we don't I won't be too upset if we put in a really valiant performance. Even being here is absolutely unbelievable considering how grim it's been over the past 3-4 years. Our fans will be louder, more colourful and it's just good to have us back, in front of a world audience being relevant again, competing in cup finals. Win or lose, I see a brighter future for us coming, let's just hope it starts with a major trophy in hand.
Villarocker
Come on the Villa - make us all proud and lift the FA Cup. What a chance for each of those players, and the manager, to become legends! in that order hopefully

Mantis
Depending on how the game pans out, I actually worry for my health slightly. I'm a pretty healthy person but I get nervous easily with Villa and this is by far the most important game of my time as a fan (didn't get properly into football until about 2001 so don't really remember 2000 well). If it goes to penalties I'll be genuinely worried about a heart attack.

Penalties would certainly be unbearable, I could barely watch when we got the last minute one against WBA, I have no idea how the players do it.

I do agree that in terms of the future of the club it doesn't matter a great deal what happens and that our future looks brighter regardless of the outcome. But for me, this match is not about the future. The future will take care of itself. This match is all about the history and the prestige of the club. It's all about lifting the trophy and putting an end to 58 years of waiting. Adding one more significant 'honour' to our list after such a long wait. Being an 8-time FA Cup winner. The loser is forgotten. Yes we go into the summer and any failure will not greatly affect next season and beyond, but it will have been another massive missed opportunity; one that does not come around that often (for us anyway). These are the genuinely significant days in the history of any football club and it is successful days like these ones that this club was brought up on. It would be very symbolic for the great Aston Villa to do it again. Now excuse me, I think I've got something in my eye
