watching the Sunderland documentary and Duncan Watmore, I remember he was a better player than Grealish according to some people in the media around 2016. Seems he is still ploughing away in League 1

He was a very promising prospect, to be fair, and then had at least one very bad injury.

Watching an 80's game on YouTube and it showed something we don't see nowadays (I assume to rule changes)

Indirect free kicks.

Was watching a few MOTDs in late 90s and even then obstruction in the box was usually indirect FK in the box rather than penalty you always get now.

I actually wouldn't be against that coming back in some form, you get a free shot from 12 yards for so many soft challenges nowadays with barely any contact.

watching a video ranking our strikers in Premier League history. Julian Joachim was definitely a valuable player for Villa without being a starter. He is 7th in our Premier League top scorers of all time with 39

The top 20 top scorers are actually dreadful numbers, Staunton is in the top 20 with 13 goals

With very minor and short-lived exceptions, we've been shit for all my lifetime, so that figures really.

Henri Saivet, highly rated because of FM but just 5 games for Newcastle since 2016. Still has a year left on his contract 😂

Newcastle initally did well getting likes of Ben Arfa and Cabaye in but then got carried away with signing french players, Yanga-Mawiba was another who seemed highly rated at first but then became s*** pretty quickly.

Can also remember an LB they had called Haiadara who was there plenty of seasons but kept getting loaned out.

Thuvain was flop aswell but done very well since going to Marseille, regular in french squad last few years.

Think he was one like Veretout where the talent was always there but he maybe didn't have independence or maturity to flourish in another country.

Remi cabella and chancel mbemba another couple

The funniest thing about Ben arfa was Joe Kinnear claiming he signed him when he was there a year before Kinnear arrived and kept calling him Ben afri

Some throwbacks to the 90’s and the beginning of the foreign player invasion.

Faustino Asprilla

Fabrizio Ravanelli

Tore Andre Flo

Frank Leboeuf

Dan Petrescu

Emerson

Didn't Aspirilla nearly go to Darlington later on? I think Frank Leboeuf is a actor now.

You can chart Rangers decline as a major force from the day they signed Flo for about 12 milllion when that was a huge transfer fee.

This guy seemed to be forgotten completely, could think of some Villa players that went missing in 2015/16 and sadly have resurfaced

Football fans may not be familiar with the name Hiannick Kamba.

Those who are might have heard of the former Schalke player in a rather sad context, when he was reported dead following an accident in January 2016.

However, as reported by Bild, the defender has now been found alive and well.

Kamba once played alongside goalkeeper Manuel Neuer with the Bundesliga outfit but four years ago, he was playing for German eighth-tier side VfB Huls.

The club were shocked by his 'death' and witnessed an outpouring of tributes from across the nation.

Now 33, he has been found alive in Gelsenkirchen, where he has been working back in his old job as a chemical technician for an energy company.

Prosecutors are said to be investigating his ex-wife, who it's claimed collected a six-figure life insurance payment after presenting documents that proved his death.

It's alleged that those documents were forged. Prosecutors are quoted by the German publication:

“The accused is accused of fraud, but she denies the fact. The proceedings are still ongoing.

“[Kamba] stated that his companions had left him during the night while on a trip to the interior of the Congo in January 2016 and they took his papers, money and telephone.”

Kamba applied to return to Germany two years ago and will now be called as a witness.

He had originally settled in the country after fleeing conflict in the Congo 19 years previously.

His family were deported in 2005, but he was granted status to remain due to his youth contract at Schalke.

Kamba is now set to be a witness in the new case after filing an application to return to Germany two years ago.

It's fantastic news that he's been found safe, albeit in the midst of a rather bizarre, unsavoury tale.
