The_Rev
I think Harry Kane probably justifies his own thread now, this is one of the most memorable breakthrough seasons in a long time. First England call up this week and as I type he's just jumped ahead of Diego Costa at the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts with 19 (not bad for a guy who wasn't even in the Spurs first XI until November) and is up to 29 for Spurs in all competitions. He's virtually guaranteed the young player of the year award. It's quite conceivable he'll finish the season with the golden boot and player of the year gong too. Not bad for a guy who, as far as I can tell at least, nobody was expecting anything from at the start of the season.
Zatman
and if he didnt score a fluke/wonder goal(words of Martin Tyler) at Villa Park it might have all been different as I believe was his 1st goal of season and Pochettino didnt seem to trust him in the league until that point Edited March 21, 2015 by Zatman
Jimzk5
Breakthrough season, I saw him when he was on loan at Norwich a few years ago and he was absolute shite.
villalad21
Someone had to follow the footsteps of Townsend eventually. The best player in the world.
Zatman
Kane is a lot better than Townsend though. on another note as i see people do mock him about it but should be an indicator to our players that Sherwood will play you if you are good enough as Kane was going nowhere under AVB or Arry

villalad21
I honestly think its a bit early to judge the lad after 1 good season.
PaulC
The new Alan Shearer more like. Tremendous season for the lad and it hasn't finished yet. Got to start for England and fit other players around him.

If Kane keeps playing like this in the coming years, you might start talking about a new Shearer.
VT Supporter Genie Posted March 21, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted March 21, 2015 He'll earn himself a £80/£100k PW contract off the back of this season I'm sure so it remains to see whether he keeps the desire once he's set up for life of financially. I hope he does, if he can string a second and third season together then he's the real deal.

Jenko#4
I like the guy and think he has his feet on the ground and has the potential to be as good as Shearer. What I don't like is the constant media w**kfest over him. I had SSN on the other day when he was called up to the England squad, and I must have seen an interview with his primary school teacher 5 times in a 2 hour spell. Just let the kid get on with his football for Englands sake!
The_Rev
That's just symptomatic of the modern media. 24 hour TV channels and the internet means new guys are going to get talked up more than ever. Imagine if Alan Shearer had just scored that famous hat trick against Arsenal today?
villa4europe
ive only seen him twice this season in what id call big games, the derby which he won and the cup final which chelsea completely did a number on him, so im not entirely convinced by him yet do think that he actually comes across as a decent bloke though and one that i wouldnt mind him doing him well, the hype and the wages that are coming and staying the local lad done well will be a test for him thats for sure (one that i think out of him and berahino the latter will almost certainly fail)

KAZZAM
He's the reason Spurs are still in the mix for top 4 otherwise without him they'd be mid table 10th+.

maqroll
There have been a lot of one season wonders in England, I'm going to wait and see what he does next season. He's an interesting combination of classic poacher and a striker who can volley in goals from 20 yards out at acute angles. I used to not like him cuz of his face and name, but he's humble in interviews, let's hope he doesn't start dressing like Gareth Bale.
VillaChris
Was well wrong on him, thought he was just another Weimann who ran around a lot, poor touch and scored a few poacher goals but as the season has gone on he's indicated he has way more strings to his bow. Of course next season will be a big test.
