DOL kept the club ticking over during one of the most turbulent periods of it's history and achieved 2 respectable positions. His last season would have been better except he was not allowed to strengthen in Jan. Which incidentally was the major factor in the player revolt, which is often wrongly blamed on DOL, IMO.

MON has a totally different job of returning the club to former glories. He's doing ok so far, without setting the world alight. So for me it's a close call between the 2.

The comparison is not a fair one.

DOL had bugger all to spend, even the time when Ellis said we were going to spend mega it turned out to be a net £4 million or so.

Different board, different circumstances, and 1) Laursen is fit 2) Bouma got used to the Premier League 3) Gabby coming through 4) Ashley Young 9 million we would never have spent that under Ellis

etc etc

DOL's performance = 1st season, 6th; 2nd season, 10th; 3rd season, 16th.

The risk is: what is the next number in this sequence?

At least MON got usback up to 11 the next season.

No comparison really. The aforementioned manager has been out of work for 18 months and not one sniff of a new job. Martin Oneill was linked to most of the top jobs on our league whilst he was out of work and even before. He has since been linked to Liverpool and England.

Previous manager is still scouring the situations vacant at the job centre.
