can see Everton claim a dodgy red card in next 2 weeks to avoid this, im sure they start off in on of the very early rounds

Yep, first game is the 2nd July I heard on talksport.

You go straight into the opening qualifying round.

So whoever get in will have what, 3 weeks off before playing this game?

Shit hole of a competition… Would be back in training in two weeks.

It depends on how serious the club who get the place are, the other entrants (154 teams will play in the first qualifying round) are made up of winners of the Moldovan league, the team that finishes 4th in the Azerbaijani league, the Armenian league runners up

That's the calibre of opposition, do you chance it and try and get through the first few rounds with kids and reserves?

No you play the kids and reserves out of choice, in the hope of losing the fixture before the first team get back off holiday.

Let the Armenians spend their midweeks jetting here there and everywhere for no purpose.

but is it not better to play them as pre-season games. Surely a home game against a welsh or Irish team or even moldova is better thant travelling to New Zealand like they did last season in pre-season

The game is 2 leg play off, you could end up playing in Kazakhstan if that who you draw, I cant see west hams/ Southamptos first team players being too enthusiastic with having 3 weeks off before going into this competition

First qualifying round is two legs, but the draw is regionalized (though exactly how, UEFA have never said), generally into North/East/South regions.

Example: the North (where an English club will land and be seeded) groups were

Group 5

unseeded: Jelgava (Latvia), Fram Reykjavik (Iceland), B36 Torshavn (Faroe Islands), VPS Vaasa (Finland), Aberystwyth Town (Wales), Atlantas Klaipeda (Lithuania)

Group 6

unseeded: Dundalk (Ireland), Stjarnan (Iceland), Crusaders (Northern Ireland), Santos Tartu (Estonia), Fulgafjordur (Faroe Islands), Daugava Riga (Latvia)

Group 7

unseeded: Fola Esch (Luxembourg), Vikingur (Faroe Islands), Banga Gargzdai (Lithuania), Kalev Sillamae (Estonia), Airbus UK (Wales), Glenavon (Northern Ireland)

So going by that, there's almost a 1-in-3 chance of being drawn against a club in the UK or Ireland, and I doubt any of those flights are that long.

Picked up 4 yellows yesterday.

I have a funny feeling they don't wanna be back in training in a couple of weeks!
