I do like the idea of some sort of dystopian future where the works of hans Christian Andersen and the brothers grimm are worshipped in a similar vein

The Bible or any book with some god bloke in is a version of some cobbled together Christian Andersen and the brothers Grimm type stories from that region at that time.  They sell well but read like the dialogue from the Phantom Menace.  Not recommended.

Old fiction,  but fiction anyway.

Walter M. Miller's excellent SF novel "A Canticle for Leibowitz" posits a post-apocalyptic religion based upon a surviving fragment of somebody's shopping list.

Look's really good,  will read it and let you know.  👍🏻

Genuine name of a town in Newfoundland, they erected (soz) a sign

I've been there (stopped at a 'gas station' and took a selfie next to the old town sign). This new sign is much grander; they're obviously cashing in.

There's another one where the post apocalyptic religion is based on a fear of developing machines again and the messiah is Ned Ludd.
